bamaace83 | 965 comments I tried to post this a few times already. If it shows up double, my bad! This internet in the woods is sketchy but I'll be home tomorrow and I can totally work on this. Is the deadline still Saturday like last time? Friday nights are so much easier for me to power through knocking stuff out than any other night. Also, I think some teams are getting lines added for meals if we get to that point.

You know what...I was thinking the deadline was Friday...whew!

I cranked out another 10 meals or so. Calling it a night.

Really need to get the blanks filled in for ingredients, page or loc #s so we can finish meals. If we can get that caught up by tomorrow we can focus on finishing. Probably should indicate here if we have only a certain time to avoid being on top of each other.

Thanks everyone...

Tammie | 4553 comments Thank goodness we have until Saturday...here's the time converter...would be good if we had most everything done by Friday if we can manage...leaving time to tweak meals/names etc

I was just going to look to see when this round ended! I have been stressed out about getting my meals done. I have had some big deadlines at work this week so haven't been able to get to it. Glad we have a couple of days.

Shannon O'Flynn | 630 comments Is that countdown to finish books or to take care of the customers

message 456: by Shannon (new)

Shannon O'Flynn | 630 comments I meant finish meals. My bad

bamaace83 | 965 comments Back in the car for four hours but we have a couple stops in Indy to make. We need a legit big kid Costco run bc Indiana is about to implement some new covid rules based on the color of your county and we need to eat. I’m waiting for Kentucky to do the same thing. We live on the Indiana side of Louisville but we follow both governors bc we work in Kentucky. That’s countdown to have meals finished. I will have my books finished tonight and I’ll work on meals and tomorrow night I can power house like last time and help make last minute things and name some stuff.

message 458: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I'm home. I'm going to work on creating meals. I finished my spell-out book that I'll fill in some of those letters with. I'll see what else I can come up with. I'm not very good with names though.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments Anna, did you create Lukov Love? If you did (or whoever did) so clever and a fun play on words!

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments Can someone please tell me what SWINBOURNE items are?

I still have 3 books' foods to add, so I'll do my meals tomorrow. Meantime, if anyone is creative and likes gourmet foods such as escargot etc. feel free to make a meal or use my items if you need to make something with any.

message 461: by Tammie (last edited Nov 12, 2020 05:27PM) (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Vicki wrote: "Can someone please tell me what SWINBOURNE items are?"

watermelon
legume
ube

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

we've done a few spellouts with this...lots of watermelon ingredients. More the better.

message 462: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Lol, it wasn't me because I'm not that creative. I had to fix some numbers. We had some duplicates and it was messing things up. I think I got it fixed. Watermelon, ube, and legumes.

message 463: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Thanks to whoever caught my numbering...I was very tired when I was working on those last night ;)

message 464: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Let me see what I can make in the next 30 minutes or so. Then tomorrow night I can spend a long time making meals with what we have left.

message 465: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Depending on what you filled in...hoping we can finish out the spellouts for sure. Maybe see if any of the left over letters could make another swinborne word?

I'll leave the sheet alone for awhile and then check in again in a few hours. I have very little time tomorrow until the evening.

message 466: by bamaace83 (last edited Nov 12, 2020 06:55PM) (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Okay, I got a few more meals done. Finished the spell-out with the U but looks like we need some E's. I switched my November 9 book to a spell-out because it has I and O which could be good vowels to use in a spell-out but I'll have to figure that out tomorrow night. I haven't touched the 12 use books much because I wanted to evaluate those for drinks and desserts. I'll need help with names because I kinda suck at that.

message 467: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I can also finish up using the remainder ingredients tomorrow night if y’all need me too. That way Saturday morning if we just need to tweak things we can. I have to be at work at 7 in the morning or I would do more. Where we were staying was in central time zone and I live in eastern so it has me all messed up!

message 468: by Tammie (last edited Nov 12, 2020 11:33PM) (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Update: I just filled in the rest of the outstanding spellouts. But...we have quite a few letters left that we can use for spellout recipes...I'm going to work on this for just a bit more then calling it a night. Will have a bit of time tomorrow...but the day is pretty full with work.

I used one of Vicki's E's to finish, but there is one left -> Did I mention I love you. Unfortunately there are 7 left.

Shannon, Jenny, Ann all still have books being read.
I can fill in the area reserved for spell out with a book if needed...but anyone can feel free if you have a good one. I don't think we'll need it for spellout.

Ann...line 134 What was once true...there is no data entered.

I entered the data. I will try and make some more meals today. my schedule is not as busy.

message 470: by Shannon (new)

Shannon O'Flynn | 630 comments Im almost done my book. Only 50 pages left. Ill finish it once i get home from the pet store

message 471: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I think I got the page numbers fixed. I thought it was going to be a busy day in clinic but I was on vacation the last three days and the numbers are not what they were on Monday. I can make meals probably this afternoon also.

message 472: by Shannon (new)

Shannon O'Flynn | 630 comments not sure why but the desert I just added is saying zero ingredients when there is 1 ingredient

message 473: by Shannon (new)

Shannon O'Flynn | 630 comments actually its doing it for all that I add...

message 474: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Let me go check this out really quick. I've been fixing numbers and they may be messed up again.

message 475: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Some of the numbers got jumbled this morning which is why we had to play musical numbers but I think it should work for you now. Any suggestions on some good spell-outs? I need to go write down all the letters we have left and see what we can make.

message 476: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I posted my comment somewhere but I have no idea what thread. Anybody have any good short books that they have read this week with lots of characters with vowels to take that last open spot. I have not but I can power through something tonight if need to. Here's a breakdown of the letters that we have left to use and how many in each section:

5 left: C, U, S, Q, M, M, H, B, V, M, G, P, J, G, F, R

2 left: R, Z, Q, L, J, M, J, S, F, R, S, L

1 left: W, D, S, Y

4 left: A, C, B, D, T, H, N, S, T

6 left: C, H, N, B, K, F, O, D, O, I, T, K, J, M, T, O

7 left: M, E, M, T, B, J, C, E, R, D

6 left: T, R, J, H, F, Q

Some possible choices that I've found so far with just using limited vowels in a word to make more meals and using UBE once but haven't had enough time to dive in are...

UBE, FISH, OYSTER, GYRO, SHRIMP, CRAB, EGG, CORN, CURRY, GRITS, JAM, JELLY,

bamaace83 | 965 comments I made a few more meals. I'm really not good at naming things so if anyone wants to help me out that would be awesome. Also, with my Lady Luck book, some of the desserts came written with multiple ingredients, am I able to put those down as whole desserts since that's how they were in the book? I'll be back in a couple hours to work some more.

Tammie | 4553 comments bamaace83 wrote: "I made a few more meals. I'm really not good at naming things so if anyone wants to help me out that would be awesome. Also, with my Lady Luck book, some of the desserts came written with multiple ..."

For desserts, yes you can just spell out the whole dessert name...I did that on a few.

I'm not sure how much energy I have left today...Will see if anyone is working, but I'm probably going to bed early. It's been a very busy week.

Glad you got the letters sorted...so the main thing on spell out is to be sure whatever you spell that the minimum number is there for that recipe...ie you could spell just 'ube' for pasta because the min is 3, but not for a sandwich or salad because those are 4 and 5.

I have another book...I'll add that 1st...I didn't keep track when I was listing so it might take me a bit to finish.

message 479: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Housekeeping

Vicki - The following books have no recorded data for scavenger items or spellout...prefer scavenger unless you have a u or other vowels
line 158- White out
line 163 - Julia
line 165 - Sunday's at Tiffany's

Now the data I had entered for Singularity has disappeared as well...so hopefully it's not a same situation. Maybe we can retrieve/find it.

message 480: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I've got coffee and snacks. I ended up falling asleep on the couch last night. I'm about to power through and make meals with all the rest of the things still left and use as many spell-outs as I can. I'll just need some help with names in a little bit.

message 481: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Ann: We've got double books in line 24 and 33 but the page numbers are different and the words are different. I'm so not sure what is going on but I think 33 is supposed to be a different title??

message 482: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments I will work on naming meals...we could use about 75 more I think :)
If I'm in your way let me know.

Vicki has 3 books with no data...I'll see what I can find...each book must be used for at least one ingredient to be counted in the challenge.

message 483: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Cool, thanks for naming. I don't even know what to do there. I've got quite a mess going on in the meal making area. Yeah, I'm going to send her a message and tell her to come update those if she's awake and I'll keep making things. We also have to figure out Ann's situation with those books that are named the same because it's messing the ingredients up.

message 484: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments I'll look at Ann's books once I've named everything I can. Can you number the meals you've finished when you have a minute?

message 485: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I found another issue:

Ann: The Moonstone on lines 24 and 33

Ann: Last Train to Istanbul on lines 40 and 23

The page numbers are different so I really feel it's different books that have been named the same by accident but it's messing up the numbers over here.

message 486: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Yep, I think I have them all numbered up to where I'm currently at.

bamaace83 | 965 comments I sent her a message because I have no idea how to figure it out.

message 490: by Tammie (last edited Nov 14, 2020 08:24AM) (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments The Moonstone - I had problems with that one and was too tired to investigate. DBL book would explain it.

With DBLs we just have to name #2 a bit different.

Also...it really helps just to copy the first 3 fields in the books read tab and paste them in the meals creating tab.

message 491: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Oh, that would make it a lot easier than what I've been doing. Let me just go add a 2 to each of those at the moment and then we can figure it out later this morning.

message 492: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I think I have figured out the books and the remaining ingredients in those doubles so now I'm back to making meals. I think I can get a good bit more meals. I just gotta maneuver ingredients around.

If time allows, I hope we can make the maximum number we can make. I requested more spaces yesterday...I don't think they provided yet. Last round we made what was given and ended up not maxing out...it cost us points vs other teams.

I fixed line 40. The book linked was wrong. The other book listed for moonstone 2 isn't my book. I checked the count and I have all my books listed. I only read 18 this round and there are 19 in the file. I tried to figure out who the book might belong to based on how they filled out the food words. I think it might be Shannon's book. I am still trying to figure it out.

message 495: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Okay, I'm back we have 30 minutes to fix this all up. I'm going back to see what needs to be done. I can take Jenny's last book off and just put something there to use for one ingredient if I need to.

message 496: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Down to the wire creating meals today...we made it to 222 meals.
Anna and I tag teamed to get it done.

Our customers are here...we have 210 customers...so we'll get to carry over 12 meals this time :)

Thanks to all for a tremendous amount of reading...our book totals go to 100 for this last round...4 weeks to complete.

If everyone is OK with it at about the 2 week mark, I'm going to ask that anyone complete meals using anyone's ingredients. Too many last minute hours was not a positive and I'm sure we were on top of each other trying to finish.

PLEASE cross out or note if you use an ingredient.

If we have spellouts...there really should be a plan for words at the get go if at all possible. Let's chat here so we can work together to get those figured out.

Thanks again everyone!

message 497: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments We need someone to take care of our customers. Shannon you did a fabulous job last time...or maybe someone else wants a go at it.

Need to carry over 12 so save a combo of frozen, desserts or alcoholic bev for that.

message 498: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments If we score between 17-20 for this round we'll be looking for these special words:

"instagram", "chic", or "trendy"

If you find them, please put them in the scavenger section...maybe list them first. I think there is more information coming on this...I don't remember when/how we got our score last time.

message 499: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Cool, thanks, do we start counting our books that read tomorrow? I'm taking a computer break for a bit but I have a ton of YA books coming up this week and I think a few of them are 300 pagers. I'm definitely going to have to slip some better 500 pagers in to get a break from YA angst.

message 500: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments You can start adding you books now to the SS for round 3

Finish dates will ideally start tomorrow to avoid confusion with ending in the middle of the day today...I don’t think it really matters though
