Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments Thanks to whoever used my words to make meals and use letters for SIO. I had a difficult week and when I went on today to finish and make meals they were already done. Thank you SO MUCH!

Tammie | 4553 comments Anna...there is a problem with the SS.

One of Jenny's books doesn't exist...not sure how that's even possible...Dead of Night: a Zombie Novel...It's not on our list of books but someone used it to make a meal...how can that be??

Also The Last Train to Istanbul was also labeled The Last Train to Istanbul2 and there aren't 2. Not sure...I tried to go back and fix by deleting a couple of meals and ended up making it worse so I left a message for the mods...hopefully they are willing to step in.

Sorry for not catching these before we finished at 3...I probably should have just left it...
If you can shed some light on either of these situations, that would be great.

Probably best to hold off on addressing customers...

bamaace83 | 965 comments Oh boy! I’m not home at my computer. I know what happened with istanbul2. Ann renamed it to something else, should’ve been book spot 40 possibly? Not sure if those words go reused in another meal though because I can’t see it. Now the dead book I have no idea what happened. I should be home in a little bit to have a look unless someone wants to try to ply detective.

I think I'm for sure not going to touch it 1) because I wasn't 'in that' so I don't want to screw it up more and 2) I did alert the mods so I don't want to get in the middle of that too

If you can have a look and if it's easy to fix great...the version that's up now is a result of me trying to fix...I deleted the reference to fixing meals with Jenny's mystery book and somehow Istanbul 2 became Lucov and that's when I freaked out.

On Jenny's I think somehow the book may have been mislabeled as A rule against murder tied with the recipe when I went looking...so now that book shows it's overdrawn for meals.

message 505: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Lol that sounds like a hot mess express. When I get home I’ll have a look but I have a feeling we may need a mod aka an experienced spreadsheet person to come fix our disaster. We already have two lukovs so there’s no telling.

message 506: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Oh my......oh my........oh my......okay so now we have major spreadsheet problems. Is there a way to get this back to where it was at 4 pm when we stopped working on it and I can try to fix it from there? So now we have two AnnLukov books but 23 should be istanbul and not lukov. I have no idea about the Dead situation as of yet. I'm afraid to change 23 back to istanbul because I don't know what it's going to do to this spreadsheet.

message 507: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Okay, I changed the name back on 23 and that fixed one of the big issues. Here are the two issues that I see now before I go to fixing more until the mods way in:

First: The Casual Vacancy and Last Train to Istanbul2 are the same book. So we need to remove 12 ingredients from the spreadsheet which is definitely going to modify meals. I can do this but I want the mods opinion on what to do first.

Two: Given where the meals are made with the random A Rule Against Murder. The page numbers don't match up on a couple so I really feel like there was a Dead book at some point but then it vanished and something was put in its place.

message 508: by bamaace83 (last edited Nov 14, 2020 08:55PM) (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I highlighted the 3 extra Murder books that need to go away. I highlighted the 12 extra ingredients for the double books. I'm going to wait til we get someone to come on here and give us the green light before I delete and rearrange those ingredients. With the right maneuvering we won't lose too many meals.

I think go ahead and fix it. No mods have shown to help and we made the mess anyway

Thanks much for figuring it out

message 510: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Okay, let me go see what I can do to fix it. No problem.

message 511: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments It's all fixed and in all we only lost two meals and we lost a couple fancy fish and chips to regular fish and chips.

Tammie | 4553 comments Awesome...glad that’s all done.

Results should be in by tomorrow night on how we stacked up.

Our final round is here...some serious reading to do this round...hope you all find some awesome books!

message 522: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Yay, thanks Shannon. Maybe tomorrow night after we see how we stack up we can figure out some spell-out options. That would help me find books to maximize letters. I'm going to go ahead and add my 300 plus books that I have planned for the next couple days and I also plan on making meals as I go if I can so we don't have to scramble at the end.

message 523: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Okay, so I'm trying something different this time with meals because I may or may not have as much time when these four weeks are over to catch up. I started meals with some unique ingredients in my book. Feel free to fill in gaps or start new meals and I'll do the same. I think this may help us stay on track or at least it will in my brain. Any suggestions on some good spell-out options so we can put them in the spreadsheet and then find books that fit the best options?

message 524: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I left one word open because I found trendy and neighborhood but not sure which set of words we will be searching for and how we are supposed to use those in meals.

bamaace83 | 965 comments Okay so I have a page number issue. I read The Summer I Turned Pretty Trilogy: The Summer I Turned Pretty; It's Not Summer Without You; We'll Always Have Summer but my edition was the pink covered kindle version which page number is 320 and the default is 288. Which page number do I use for this challenge? It changes the ingredient number so I'm double-checking. It has some good words in it.

Tammie | 4553 comments Round 2 results...we’re ranked 5th and appears we ranked 2nd in customer scores.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Round 2 Complete

Thanks cooks, chefs and kitchen hands - you have made it through your second month and now have public google reviews!

Frozen Meals from round 2 not consumed
Can be used in round 3. You should copy and paste these from your Shop Front Round 2 to the Shop Front Round 3 tab. Leave the meal number blank or put "Rd2" in the meal number.

Desserts, Drinks and Cocktails from round 2 not consumed
Can be used in round 3. You should copy and paste those you want to use in round 3 from your Shop Front Round 2 to the Shop Front Round 3 tab. Leave the meal number blank or put "Rd2" in the meal number.

Fresh Food from round 2 not consumed
Fresh food not used will be rotten unless you received tips from adults to preserve.
The amount of tips you have from round 2 is directly attributable to your Google Score.

Score Tips
4.25-5 40% of adults tipped

3.25-4.24 20% of adults tipped

2-3.24 10% of adults tipped

0-1.9 0 adults tipped

If you have Fresh food from round 2 you are preserving by using a tip, copy and paste those you want to use in round 3 from your Shop Front Round 2 to the Shop Front Round 3 tab. Leave the meal number blank or put "Rd2" in the meal number.

Google Score
All teams have received a score which is available on the Status Sheet.

In round 3, enter the word you find (if doing a scavenger hunt) related to your Swinbourne Score in the justification on your kitchen tab ; and then when creating the meal tick the highlighted box (column G)

You don't need to use the word in the meal name. So let's say that I find the word chic in my book. And for the sake of an example, let's pretend it is The Maze Runner. (I have no idea if that is true, I just picked a random book!)

Now to work out how to use it. Is there a food word in there I can scavenger? Or can I use it as a spell-it-out?
Let's assume there is no food item in the book. Then I decide I will use it as a spell-it-out instead. I can use 8 letters and it needs to be fresh or frozen (384 pages).
I decide to spell out LETTUCE.
I use T - Theresa and T-Thomas (characters)
in the Kitchen meals created tab justification, I write T: Thomas. (c) & Chic ; page 84
Then on the shop front tab for that meal, we would select the checkbox to show it contains one of the google review terms.

If I find "chic" 4 more times in Maze Runner, and I am able to use that book across 4 different meals, I would be able to tick the box for 4 meals.

Books read cap
For round 3, it is 100 books per team

Customers round 3
The exact number of customers won't be known until they arrive, but be sure it will increase for round 3 as your restaurants gain in popularity!!

Customer meals from round 2
So many great names for the round! We invite you to check out:
Team Trouble
Team Dholes with Sole
Team Read It and Eat
as the teams that got the highest scores for meal names :)

message 530: by Tammie (last edited Nov 17, 2020 09:04PM) (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Our Score, 4.11

Our words are:

Local
Neighborhood or neighbourhood
Quality

3.25-4.24 You're doing well and locals are still testing you out. It will take a bit more though to attract a broader base of customers.
Meals using books with the word "local", "neighbourhood / neighborhood", or "quality" in the text or title, or used as a spell-it-out will attract more adults for round 3

message 531: by Tammie (new)

Tammie | 4553 comments Please note the ‘google words’ in the word find box...example see line 177 ‘HotShot’ for example. Let’s try to get our words in as many meals as we can :)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments Are those SWINBOURNE words? I believe I have asked twice in the thread what that means but I haven’t gotten an answer yet that I have seen. So I don’t know what Swinbourne words are.

See post 530...if you can look for these 3 words in each of your books and note with your ingredients like I did at line 177 for my Hotshot book

For round 3 the words are ‘google words’

bamaace83 | 965 comments I just went to read the responses and it's just the new words. We don't use the words in the past. Great job team! We are so not far behind at all and we can totally wiggle our way into that top 3. We got this! Plus, they really liked some of the names for our meals so kudos to all of y'all for naming because I'm not creative. Tammie, I'm glad you did some of those new words in meals because now I know where to put my neighborhood. I'll get my other couple books added today hopefully as long as clinic is okay. I'm really trying to stay on top of it this time.

message 537: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments So I realized that when I added neighborhood to a line with a word already that it didn't remove it from the words that I used so I had to manually change that formula on the other spreadsheet. I hope this makes sense.

We will update the shop front round 3 tab to be similar to round 2 where you have the tick box when you find one of the words.

bamaace83 | 965 comments Nope it was the one this time. Like when I added neighborhood to the cactus line. It didn't remove it as using an ingredient on the books read line because I didn't give it a line by itself. So I had to go manually change the numbers so I wouldn't accidentally use too many ingredients per book unless the bonus words count differently but I know last time the bonus words were added into the ingredients that we used. If that makes sense.

message 541: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I'm going to ask in the big thread because I think I may be confused. Plus, if I'm confused someone else may be confused also.

message 542: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I was able to get it cleared up in my mind. The words don't count as ingredients like the words we found last time so that I fixed the things that I messed up on my own lines earlier today.

Tammie | 4553 comments bamaace83 wrote: "I was able to get it cleared up in my mind. The words don't count as ingredients like the words we found last time so that I fixed the things that I messed up on my own lines earlier today."

I think the teams that do the best will have one of these words in most every meal. If I'm interpreting this correctly...we want diversity in our meals.

So to make it easy to followup and check...if we can gray the ingredient that has the 'google word' with it, we'll be able to keep track.

Put the list of 'google words' at the beginning of your ingredient list...I've done this with my HotShot book, so if you need an example, check that.

We don't have to use the words in our Meals, but it might be fun to try and do so where it makes sense.

Thanks, Tammie. Do you know if plurals are allowed? ie. Neighborhoods rather than neighborhood.

message 545: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments Cool, I will go change those around and make sure it's fixed. I have ingredients to add also for a couple books.

message 546: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 965 comments I think we should have enough of the special ingredients to use one for each meal because those are pretty common words in some books it looks like. Also, what should I do about my 200-300 page books? I have one that I think has some pretty good food words that I can add but I wasn't for sure what everyone's reading looked like the next four weeks. Kentucky just got a significant restriction list so I'll just be going to work and home for the next four weeks. I know that I'll be able to hopefully have some more reading times.

I think plurals are probably fine...if you do have choices I would stick to the exact word

Anna is right...these are pretty common

bamaace83 | 965 comments Sure, I will work on that during my downtime today. I have a couple 200ish page books to figure out words for and a few more books to add. I did a couple on audio so I have to get the ebook version and hunt. Yes, I noticed we didn't have her this past week for turfwars so I was wondering if we needed to pick up some books for her. In one example I have 2 of the words listed and 2 that are plurals. Should I add both (all 4)?
