Lots of choices for the other...
Silent wife...Salad and apple can be added to the fruit salad I've already started...that's 2 of the 8...
Maybe start a curry with some of the other ingredients...we'll need spices to go in there...we could put my lobster in with it for the meat...tater-tots, corn, will doritos work in a curry?
Curry definition: a dish of meat, vegetables, etc., cooked in an Indian-style sauce of strong spices and typically served with rice.
The curry needs at least 5 things...so leave blanks for what needs to be filled in...

I'll check it out from the library via kindle and see if I can find some spices or potatoes...I'm thinking there was at least one potato in that book...hehe

Spices pg 106 - put in curry
Tea pg 36, 37 - can use to make tea
meat pg 9 - put in curry
water pg 1, 6 - use for tea
oil pg 32
vegetables pg 39

I think I have no idea what I am doing now that I started. LOL I see you girls saying you were short pages so maybe my book is too short? It's 180 pages and I put it on the SS with all the food/drink words in my book (still working on adding any) and I have EGGS if you still need it.
Questions:
1. If "honey" is used in my book as a term of endearment, may that still be used?
2. If we find a food/drink such as coffee and it's on a lot of pages, is there any reason to add all of those pages or just one or two?

I'm still finishing a book I started prior to this challenge starting then I'll start wrapping up other books.

Go to the meals and points tab...you’ll see the breakdown for scavenger words...@301 we jump to 8 words vs 4 with 300, etc...this tab’s content really helped me understand the challenges
Honey ...yes we could use that...with tea perhaps
I’ve had the same thing with coffee and tea... I noted 2 or three and left it at that

Yes, baked ziti could be one of the 3 required ingredients for the scavenger method...awesome find!

Okay, thanks. :)

I started this menu item knowing I have a book that I will read that will have vinegar...but if anyone finds, just fill it in and we can start another.

I hear you...I've got a few I know coming up that will have alcohol. I think once we get going it's not to difficult. The SS does a good job of showing items we haven't used yet...awesome feature.

◈ fish and chips (fish, or any types of fish, potato or chips, salt, lemon) Must contain all these items (4), add vinegar for bonus points
For our meal #5 we had recorded chips and potatoes. We can use one or the other...so I deleted the potatoes and slid in the option for vinegar (bonus). Hope this makes sense.

I am currently reading Save Me the Plums: My Gourmet Memoir - it has all words fish, chips, vinegar and lemon

awesome!

If you have choices...Opt for something frozen...those items can be carried over to the next round

Perfect...just keep filling things in...can always start another menu item too.

Also, I have mostly been either going for FROZEN food or whichever one can give us most points if eaten. Is there a strategy we're using for that, or should I just put my meals wherever and the captains will move them? And where is the spellout tab? Under what circumstances is it better to use the SO?

It should only be 8

Also, I have mostly been either going for FROZEN food or whichever one can give..."
I'm using SIO when there are a lot of characters and/or there are very few food/drink items mentioned in the book. FROZEN is better as we can use them from month to month.

Not sure we have much of a strategy at this point...still getting our arms around this. If we complete our 80 books and still have time, we may do a combination of things like...
Adding more ingredients to make our meals tastier or swapping out longer books.
Right now we’re at a pace that will have us finishing about 4-6 days early...that’s ok as the next rounds are longer so good to know we can handle it...but it might be good to have more longer books. I say might..let’s see where we are at half way point and we can adjust then if needed. For now, just read what you love.
As far as spell out...there are going to be books that just don’t have ingredients for words in them...that where spell out comes in.
Also there are min and maximums for meal types we’ll need to pay attn to this..ideal is probably to make more frozen as that meal appeals to a wider range of customers

There is an exception to this...if you read via audio you record the page number for the default version...the first book on the list of versions

No problem...I think our rounds are 4 weeks long so we’re no where close to crunch time. ;)

If you come across a 'spice' in your reading, please add it to a curry recipe or save it to add to a curry recipe someone else creates.

Good idea Jenny...I’ll do the same

Correct...we have several weeks to do as we need/wish

Date Read: 9/25
Pages: 146 pages
SIO: H (title), C (Author FN), M (Maude), G (Gustav),

Marianna Zapata and Kristen Ashley books tend to be longer...their style drones on a bit, but overall I've enjoyed these authors.
My all time fav or Zapata is The Wall of Winnipeg and Me and Ashley The Gamble
Cake
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - a classic I read for book club that turned out to be wonderful (so many of them aren't)
The Chestnut Man - thriller (which I don't like, but liked this one)
Lilac Girls - interestingly good
A couple of NR standalones that are really good--The Collector The Liar The Obsession
Anything J.R. Ward, Kristen Cashore I could recommend
What I've got on my list to read that's over 500:
I've just started All the Light We Cannot See -- liking to so far...it's a best seller which practically everyone else in the world has read, but for whatever reason I'm just getting around to it :)
I'm also going to read the 5th Twilight book...most of those are over 500 Midnight Sun (might be awhile for me as their is a long waiting list at my library)
City of Bones has been on my tbr forever as well...I may try that one...I think most of the books in this series have versions over 500.
I'd love any recs as well.

If you aren't a heavy reader and don't like longer books, please don't shy away from adding your book to the SS just because a couple of us are holding back. We're doing purely for strategy. Read what you love!
