Erin (erinm31) | 22 comments I was hoping to get a copy through my library, but there’s been ongoing issues with the catalog, so I’ve ordered it and should have it in a week or so. I look forward to reading it and joining in the discussion!

Excellent! Looking forward to it Erin & Laura!
I have ordered a copy from interlibrary loans - and if that fails, I'll go for the Kindle version.

Carolien (carolien_s) | 524 comments I'll have to pass on this one, It's not available on Kindle in South Africa, our libraries are still closed and most of our online booksellers are still short on stock. Pity, because I would have liked to read it. Will put it on the TBR list.

You can buy from other kindle stories simply by temporarily changing your home address in your amazon account. I have done this several times.

I am looking for an e-book of the original version in Spanish, but have not been able to find it so far...

I'll misuse my brother in law's address and see if the UK has it.

I'm at certain times living in a Vegas hotel to acquire books ;)

Ricki | 13 comments I hope you won’t ’t consider this a spoiler as it doesn’t concern what happens in the book. I’ve finished reading it on Kindle and I am not familiar with much of the history/culture of that area. There is an afterword which is informative and I wished I had had the advice to read it first. I don’t want to spoil your interaction with the book but perhaps there are some people like me whom this would help.

Is the afterward purely background information and not discuss what happens in the book? I have a purely conventional reluctance to read any section of a book out of order, but I am quite ignorant of the background, culture, etc. as well and such information might help me understand and appreciate it better. My copy arrived last week and I have only just started it.

Ricki | 13 comments I’ve just reread the afterword and yes, you would find more about the plot than you might wish to know so don’t read it. When more people have read it I’ll write more about my reasons for my suggestion.

Personally, I liked reading the afterward after the story as it did deepen my understanding and appreciation of the story, but I did not feel that I was missing necessary background information while reading it, so it was the right order for me. =]

I read them in the order of the book, and was fine with it as well. Forewords and Afterwords are an interesting genre... Sometimes I skip them completely - or maybe read them afterwards to allow myself to get to the story itself without interpretation - sometimes the text is just too alien to really get to, and a foreword helps greatly.
