Summary from back cover is on Amazon
Susie wrote: "But, and someone may correct me on this, I think that if they have been separated and are now available separately (as can happen with older books), then users would want the separate records. Sometimes with box sets books are sold separately and together, so there are separate records, anyway."
If they were sold (new, not resale) only as a set, then they should only be listed as a set on Goodreads. If they were sold (new) both as a set and individually, then they should be listed both ways.
ISBNs are not a perfect indicator, but sometimes they are a good clue.

Yes, I know it's a 2 volume set and I saw that volume 2 is listed on GR but I only have volume 1.
Should the two volumes be linked in the database?"
If they aren't sold separately, then yes. But, and someone may correct me on this, I think that if they have been separated and are now available separately (as can happen with older books), then users would want the separate records. Sometimes with box sets books are sold separately and together, so there are separate records, anyway.
