Avery Manousos In this week's reading, I found out a lot about what truly happened to Christine that caused her to have amnesia, and what has happened in her life since then. She has a brief memory in which she was writing a book, and then she remembers that she had a published book. She calls Dr.Nash on a secret phone he gave her, and they always meet at a coffee place near Christine's street. She asks Dr.Nash about it and he confirms that she did in fact write a book, but when she asks Ben, he lies to her and says she was a secretary and never wrote anything. Christine is torn, because she can't tell him about Dr.Nash in fear he'll be upset, but she also needs to hear the truth from her husband. One of the most important things she learned (and has to learn every day) is that she had a son named Adam. She finds this out by having another short memory, but she realizes that it couldn't be true, because Ben had never spoken of him nor keep any pictures anywhere. She confronts him about it, and he admits to her that they did have a son and he was four when she lost her memory so she hadn't remembered much about him. Unfortunately, Ben tells her that Adam had joined the army after high school and died from a bomb. Another time, she remembers through a short memory that she became best friends with a girl named Claire in college, but when she asks Ben about it, he says she moved away and they haven't spoken in a long time. She is forced to go through and remember all this every day, but neither she nor the reader knows if Ben is lying, so the whole truth- how she became like this, what really happened to her son, her novel, and her best friend- is yet to be discovered.
