As noted in the challenge on the homepage, since we are already in the middle of January we are going to continue to cover 2 topics for this week beginning Monday 19th January and ending Sunday 25th January.

The 2 topics we are covering are:

3. a book that became a movie
4. a book based entirely on its cover

Guidelines
* You must read and review at least 1 book per topic or more and of any genre.
* REMEMBER to sign up on the home page and name your folder, WEEKLY CHALLENGE: Week 3 & 4https://www.goodreads.com/challenges/...
* ADD the link to this folder.
* Don't forget to have fun!

Have to think on this one. A book based on the cover- does that mean you read it because you liked the cover?

Now may be the time for me to read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Both great choices Sara and Tracy since I loved both those movies but have only read The Notebook. Not sure what I'm going to choose but I'm swaying towards If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) by Gayle Forman but not too sure about number 4 yet…there's so many books with gorgeous covers that are enticing

I'm not sure about 4 either. I'm sure I'll find something.

Good one Tracy. Loved this book but haven't seen the movie yet. Don't want to cry again over it.

Loved this book too Sylvia. Planning on watching the movie now that it's out on DVD. Heard all good things about it. The second book was even better.

I haven't seen it either. When this book came out my mom had cancer so I was a little afraid of reading it but I think it will be OK now.

It would of been extremely difficult to read it at that time in your life but I think you'd be okay now. It's never easy reading these tearjerkers

I may read Ivan (Her Russian Protector, #1) by Roxie Rivera for this one.

Since Ivan isn't long enough I will decide between Captured (The Captive, #1) by Erica Stevens or Torn (Trylle, #2) by Amanda Hocking . I have been drawn to Torn for a long time but then I remember the first book and it was OK for me but not great. I think Captured's cover is beautiful though.

Charlie (charlieridley) | 29 comments I think for this challenge I'm going to read Matilda by Roald Dahl for a book turned into a movie. I used to adore that book when I was little and haven't read it since I was about 13 so hopefully I'll love it just as much as an adult.

For a book based on a cover I think it's got to be Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1) by Jamie McGuire .

Laken | 26 comments This week I'm reading The Fellowship of the Ring The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings, #1) by J.R.R. Tolkien for my book that became a movie and The Night Circus The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern for my book based on the cover. I'm SUPER excited about the books I've chosen for this week. Somehow I've survived 25 years without having my nerd card revoked for not having read The Lord of the Rings books. So I figured it's time :)

message 49: by Savannah (new)

Savannah | 312 comments I'm almost done with my movie book, The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1) by Rick Riordan , and then onto my cover book, Nobody's Princess (Nobody's Princess, #1) by Esther M. Friesner . I forgot how ridiculous the movie is compared to the book; Rick Riordan went into a lot of detail when he described how his characters looked, for example, Annabeth Chase was described as having blond hair and grey eyes like the sea as her mother, the goddess Athena, is described as having in numerous accounts (the grey eyes, not he blond hair), but in the movie, Annabeth has dark brown, almost black, hair and blue eyes. Casting directors need to stop trying to pick people that they think are prettier and start picking actors because they look like the characters are described in the books. Stay canon, sometimes! :-)

I see you Sylvia. I have it on hold at the library so when they get it I will read it. However, I am reading TFiOS which is a tear jerker so if Where She Went makes me cry you guys better have big shoulders.
