So anyway. the aunt drags Martin off to town and has tells him that she knows about him and Will, and that it doesn't matter, as long as they are honest with whoever he marries to make his estate solvent again, what's the big deal.

Ive got a br starting for take a hint, dani brown next weekend. But am happy to wait and do soldiers scoundrel then as well, if better for you?
Lol ok thats strange i feel be difficult to find someone to trust and be honest about their situation....but hey if thats what they want to do 😂
I don't have a lot to do next week, so I can start right after I finish this one. Shouldn't take long. I think I'll finish it tomorrow
So the boys are in town. Martin finally tells him how he feels all useless and like he has to prove himself (although how Will did not see that beats the hell out of me...), and they go back to writing letters because Will can't be with him if he might end up marrying someone some day, even if only for convenience. It's all rather pointless tbh
so the terrifying aunt Martin ran away from turns out to be a total sweetheart. She offers advice on how to sneak out and encourages him to stay out with his "friend" and how to avoid rumors. Even made him go see a doctor who gave him spectacles, so now he can see properly. Weird...

Lol mate it seems like another story, so much strange and out of the blue things. Like marriage, aunt, letters again etc... Like gone back to stage one. Although im not surprised she turns out nice, as Martin and Will seem unreliable narrators in lots of areas. Rubbish at communication in general 😂
Yes, they do suck at talking...
Oh, and in the end, all it takes is Martin saying "I won't marry" and auntie is ok with that. Even suggests helping him find work *gasp*

Sigh. So they're in London, Will's play is doing well, Martin gets sick, and OF COURSE he runs off to the country without telling Will. Sends him a letter. I don't think I have ever seen two supposedly grown-ass men be THIS bad at conversation.

Im glad i dropped when i did, sounds very frustrating x
It is. They're both trying to protect the other one and blahhhhhhhh. And still they're both really understanding why the other idiot messed up and have time to reason out why he did what he did... It's really boring
And OF COURSE Will races off to the wrong house. At least Hartley wakes up Martin to tell him that the next time he feels the need to be dramatic, he should be more precise...
"As much as I'd like to promise that I'll live out my three score and ten with him at my side, that's not a promise I can make. All I can promise is that while I'm alive, your brother will be loved, and that I'll do my best to make sure that after I'm gone he doesn't regret having loved me."
*snif*

"How long are you here for?" Will started. "Well, at least I don't have a monopoly on idiocy." "What's that supposed to mean?" "I'm here, full stop, because it's my home, because -as you said two minutes ago- it's where you are, you monumental lackwit."
Lol. Too little to late, but still kinda cute.

So I finished. I'm going to give it 2.5 stars. It was ok, but I was really expecting more.. But to be honest, I've had that problem with all her books since the first one in this series. She started doing m/f (with a non-binary heroine, I think?) romances too, and I think I only read one of them and was really disappointed...

Yep. The ending was adorable. Also, Martin (now with spectacles) finally saw that his name is etched in the outline of the swallows Will has tattooed on his shoulder. Naw

Although don't know why wasn't mentioned he struggles to see earlier... Considering they have been sending letters to each other for years.
While this last book didnt work for me, i really enjoyed the first two and fell in love with the author so thank you for reading with me 😊
Look forward to starting Soldier's scoundrel! Xx
Don't start :D It apparently explained the headaches? So maybe he's just.. far-sighted? Who knows. Or cares :D
Thank you for reading it with me. I'm glad you found a new author you like!
