After a near-death experience caused by the park's star haunted attraction, Ben has come to Ghostland seeking to reconnect with his former best friend Lilian, whose post-traumatic stress won't let her live life to the fullest. She's come at the insistence of her therapist, Dr. Allison Wexler, who tags along out of professional curiosity, eager to study the new tech's psychological effect on the user.

But when a computer virus sets the ghosts free and the park goes into lockdown, the trio find themselves trapped in an endless nightmare.

With time running short and the dead quickly outnumbering the living, the survivors must tap into their knowledge of horror and video games to escape… or become Ghostland's newest exhibits.

Part I (view spoiler)[Oh man I can’t believe there is a theme park featuring ghosts and everyone thought they were safe and something wasn’t going to go wrong on opening day lol. Whoops. Seems like the ghosts are free and are probably slaughtering everyone in the park outside of the guest services building. Cool how ghosts sort of came out and announced the presence of supernatural. Liking it so far (hide spoiler)]

Part II (view spoiler)[Now it’s just Ben and Lilian. I’m actually really sad Allison died but I guess as these ghosts have no moral compass and even kill kids it was to be expected. Ben still has that lighter fluid so I’m waiting to see if burning the house will do anything. (hide spoiler)]

Part III (view spoiler)[Wow those ghosts just took down a helicopter, is there any chance of help actually being able to ‘help’ them? (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[I kinda hate that we didn’t get to see the final showdown especially how Lillian alone managed to escape. I was guessing it would only be her getting out because I though the connection with his heart and that house would be his doom and in a way I was right. I’m guessing the ghosts are what killed him though 😢🤷🏼‍♀️ The end does sort of work for the book though in typical horror fashion, leaving the end open to worse possibilities. I enjoyed the book. Wish they would have gotten to explore and try out the “park” a bit more. (hide spoiler)]

Curious to see how you’ll like this. Was like a weird blend of the movie Jurassic Park and Thirteen Ghosts, crazy but it worked. Pretty fun if bloody story 🎃

This was kinda weird but good!

Prologue-Stalker: (view spoiler)[This book is freaking me out so much especially considering I am reading this at night hidden inside my blanket but I don’t want to put it down at all. I don’t believe in ghosts personally so it’s very interesting to be in a world where the presence of ghosts is not accepted but is kind of a norm (hide spoiler)]

Escape-Asylum: (view spoiler)[Is it only me or is Ben’s obsession with remaining at Ghostland and whining about the things he didn’t get to experience is getting a little annoying. Niko and Leonard added to the mix didn’t help the cause, i feel like the book is trying too hard to push dark humor into the thriller (hide spoiler)]

Part 2: (view spoiler)[I won’t say this is scary material exactly but gory? 100%. I am feeling plain disgusting reading through a few scenes and just imagining them in my head is making me so very uncomfortable. Niko and Leonard’s loss didn’t affect me much tbh but I am finding myself kinda missing the therapist (hide spoiler)]

Part 3: (view spoiler)[I am getting a bit tired of this book tbh. It is looking unnecessarily long to me and the novelty of ghosts and the technology behind Ghostland is starting to wear off. Both Lilian and Ben act so weird at times that it does mesh together at all with what’s happening around them eg Lilian asking if she was looking fat…i mean how does it even make sense? Finished: (view spoiler)[I am kinda relieved to have finally finished this book honestly, it kept droning on and on and on and i was bored for some time although Garrote’s master plan did seem to be the epitome of evilness. I liked how the author skipped to 6 months later rather than showing us directly how Ben died. It maintained the mysterious aura of the book. (hide spoiler)]

I’m starting it soon! Just want to finish unravel me first. Lol.
