I am not sure how to rate this book. Should I rate it a 4 because it really had a good story behind it? Or should I rate it a 3 because it was quite repetitive and took forever to get going? I am literally stuck between a rock and a hard place here.
The book took ages to get into as the story took ions and ions to finally get moving. I mean they repeat Melanie's accident for 100 pages at least. After that it finally gets going and starts to flow quite smoothly.
You learn how Bitchy Blanche is anti-homosexual but not until quite a bit later and it then plays on the edge of maybe her killing Melanie on accident. But then turns out to be what was described very early on which I think was a mistake. It would have been a great twist that the mother in law actually killed Clarisse and had it covered up. But that did not happen.
And then how Melanie wants to know throughout the whole book until she meets with Blanche and she changes her mind, not knowing what had happened to her mom. Not wanting to really know the secret. Which made me mad because I had a feeling she was the driven one and not the actual main character. Things just......did not always add up I feel.
Good story, not so smooth flowing book at times. And some moments are just way to random that it did not to be added. I sometimes wonder why I picked up the book in the first place.
