~*Kim*~ (greenclovers75) I've really been behind on reading/groups/challenges for nearly the last 2 years. But that's about to change and I'm going to have a lot more time to read, which I'm really looking forward to.

The reason I wasn't reading much was because I had reconnected with my high school sweetheart about 2 years ago. I've been spending lots of time on the phone (part of the relationship was long distance for a while) and driving back and forth to where he's living now (about 2 hours from here). The whole thing really took me by surprise, but I'm really happy it did. Well, we decided about 6 weeks ago that I'm going to move in with him. The crazy thing is that he travels for work, so I'll be quitting my job and traveling with him. So I'm going to have lots of time to read now.

I'm really looking forward to getting back into things. I've really missed the conversations and games/challenges in this group. I've got another month before I move and then time to get settled, so I'm looking at a fresh start the first of the year.

I've had to downsize my physical book collection quite a bit because we're going to be traveling in an RV and there's not a lot of space. I didn't want to have them go into storage and get ruined, so I "sold" them to Half Price Books, where I didn't get enough to even buy a new book. LOL! But oh well, at least they'll have a home.

I've missed this group and I'm looking forward to participating this upcoming year!!!

Also, does anyone know if you can delete all the books on one of your lists at once? I need to update my "want to read" list, but don't want to have to delete each book one at a time. It'll be easier to start from scratch. Thanks!

When you are on your bookshelf there is a link for a batch edit (it is right next to where you search for a book on your shelf). If you click that it will open up some options for you. There will be a drop down menu with all of your shelves listed. Select the one where the books you want to delete are. Then click select all. Next select remove books from all shelves.

The select all only selects the books visible on the page. So if there are more pages on the shelf, after you do it once just refresh and repeat until they are all deleted.

This probably won't work on the app though.

~*Kim*~ (greenclovers75) I tried that, but it won't let me because it says the list, which is the "to read" list, is an exclusive shelf and it won't delete anything. :(

First, congratulations and wonderful news! Sounds like a tablet and a few ebook purchase and or library accounts will solve the book space limitation.

I went through my Want to Read shelf at one point and deleted tons one at a time. I did it while sitting on conference calls a few pages at a time and it really did not take long.

Are you sure you can't declassify the want to read shelf in edit bookshelves?

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8414 comments Goodreads requires that every book you add MUST be on one exclusive shelf.

Goodreads set up three "exclusive" shelves - Read, Want-to-read, and Currently-reading. (Members are free to set up other shelves as exclusive as well.)

SO, I'm guessing that this is why batch edit won't work for the books on that shelf.

annapi | 5505 comments So exciting and cute about your high school sweetheart! Wishing your relationship all the best!

Sounds like you need a Kindle for your new RV - I hated the thought of downsizing my library, but now that I have most of my books in e-format, I'm getting rid of boxes and boxes.

~*Kim*~ (greenclovers75) I've got a Kindle already loaded with tons of books. My boyfriend said to go ahead and bring some of my books and we'll put them in the storage underneath. But boy is it hard deciding which ones to let go of. LOL! I think I still need to downsize a bit more before everything is finalized. I've still got 2 shelves on the bookshelf that are full.

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments I like the phrase "rehoming" your books, versus downsizing, haha.

So happy to see you are happy, Kim.
