James S.A. Corey
Can I use this for 5E (initially) & 6E (new to me author)?

Yes. Those authors have restrictions only as to criteria that apply to one person such as birth years, citizenship, etc.

Kim (kmyers) | 438 comments I'd like to edit message 507: by Kim, where I used my wildcard and now I see I could have made a 3 letter word without it. It won't affect my total in any way (I already have 3 other 4 letter words). Do I just go in and edit it, or do I need to ask here first?

Please make a new post in the Completed Tasks thread. You can post exactly as you have here, but Kate will see it there in her normal course of entering posts.

OK, thanks!

Kim (kmyers) | 438 comments Two questions:
1. For subtitles, can you choose to use or not use it? For example - The Midwife: A Memoir of Birth, Joy, and Hard Times - using the subtitle would be helpful for "A book with an 8 (or better) word title", but detrimental if trying to use it for "Title: The Plus (The and one other word, no subtitles for this one)". I'm not sure if the parentheses mean you can't use a book that has a subtitle, or that the subtitle won't be held against you.
2. If the book your using is non-fiction, can you use both 7B - Not a Novel for a letter, and the task bonus for Not a Novel?
Thanks so much!

1: "Title tasks may include subtitles..." - Except for 13C "The Plus" which says no subtitles. (We have used this previously as an RwS task, which you wouldn't have known.)

2: Yes, not a novel bonus when using that square.

Kim (kmyers) | 438 comments I'm a little unclear what is meant by Title has a number (all forms). Do either of these examples fit?
What Once Was True (Robinswood #1) or First Comes Scandal.
If not, can you give me an example that does?

Yes, ordinals will count for this square. We were thinking "all forms" refered to both titles that have numerals as well as those where the number is spelled out.

Anika | 2793 comments I just ran across a book while perusing the library that looks hilarious and wanted to read it for this challenge...it's called Love Voltaire Us Apart: A Philosopher's Guide to Relationships. Would it work for 16E?
It looks like Voltaire is one of the philosophers who is referenced in the book, but I don't know if that technically counts as being a "character."

Perhaps you meant 13E for the title character. But yes, since it says "a" character and not a main character, though a stretch, it looks like it works. It may also work for 16E with 8 or more named characters, in case you actually meant that square.

Ha! nope, I def meant 13E...haven’t had my coffee today and my brain is a few steps behind 😂

Anika | 2793 comments I don't know if it's a result of the site-wide glitch that we're experiencing, but there's a book that I've been wanting to read called The Legacy, which I couldn't find on goodreads under that title...I looked up the author, Yrsa Sigurdardottir, and I found it (as it's the first in the Children's House Series, which is also noted on the title I have) as DNA. Which title would I use to determine Name of the Game eligibility?

The Legacy is the MPE.

(And I used the add book/author, but I had to add the first name of the author to get it to come up.)

Crazy...when I looked it up I typed "The Legacy Yrsa" in the search bar also and nothing came up :-/ I think goodreads just hates me this week...
and thank you for the clarification on the MPE :-)

Rebekah (bekalynn) Does a book of short stories get the bonus points for not a novel?
