Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion

I get that it didn't count for the Time For the Dead or the Academy Quest, but the Horse Quest clearly says "Find all the items to receive your very first horse" so we are looking for items, not just completing tasks.

However, I know your word is law in this kingdom, so I have to figure out how to find a book "where someone dangles a reward to get someone else to do something."

(I really don't mean to be difficult)

Yeah. The find items potion is tricky :-/ I'll have to make sure there's at least one good quest that's approved for that potion for April's update.

I've just done a bit of totting up, and discovered that if I wanted to be victorious and finish all quests (so far...) I would currently need to read 98 books...

Question for the academy. Participate in a BR...Can it be an already in progress/older BR or does it need to be a brand spanking new BR?

Needs to be one you've done since the quest start date. Can be one that was set up for earlier as long as your chatting with someone else.

I am answereing the questions, but nobody comes to chat with me. This is why I dislike the buddy reads! I'm reading Daughter of Smoke & Bone which I am loving EVERYTHING about this story and am almost finished.

Teresa, if you read romance novels at all, this is a pretty easy one to fill. There's so many tropes inside that genre with reward dangling. You know like...marriage of convenience type stuff. Marry the guy to keep the estate/get the family money/blah blah. That's where I started anyway, just going through all the romance on my TBR shelf until I found one that fit those types of things :)

Kari, I'm not reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone right now but I have read it in the past. I'm not sure if that would count though? If a prior read person comes and chats with a currently reading one, is that still a buddy read?

Yes it counts. But only for Kari.
Think about it like in TT. You need to have right read date for BR to count :)

But if you word it like that it means that you won't be able to use it for quests like let's say A Toy for Hadley - because there are two different tasks a book with a shape in the title and then there's a spell-it-out task. Somehow I don't think that's what you intended.

EDIT: From all of the March quests by these rules only A Fairy Odd Path would be eligible for a Find Items Potion use. And frankly to spend it on one book only would be a waste.

Yeah. I'm working out the Find Items Potion. I think I may start listing eligibility on the quests if find items would work for it. And I'll start doing some quests where it would benefit people a lot.

So... Just hold out til April :P I'm literally making this up as we go along so sometimes things don't mesh right away.

This challenge is massive. There are bound to be a few things that need some tweaking to work properly. You're doing an excellent job, Kelly.

No. You can hop in any time. Even backtrack your reading to beginning (Jan 1). You just can't do quests that are expired.

Fresh rat kills are ones since the start of the quest (so March 1st)

I'm assuming that there was a Gather Bones quest that expired? I'm just seeing the Gather More Bones quest and I'm not really sure what I have to do to gather bones.

The original Gather Bones was to read 5 books that were paranormal or horror genre. It's mostly unrelated to this one except in name. For this quest, you have to collect goblin bones, which you get by killing goblins. You can check out their information under the monsters section in the Rules. Once you kill one, you get a bone. So you need to kill three for the quest.

I hear ya, I just killed my first one last night and I've been here a while lol There's a lot to go over!

Also, whenever you level up you automatically go to that level's max health? So if I was at 7 HP and I level up to Level 2, then I'd go to HP 12?

That's right. You get a full heal when you level :)

Nope, any order you want. I mean if you do some things a certain way (like leveling a weapon before you attack something with higher health) it'll obviously be easier. But there's no set schedule. Everyone's doing it their own way, focusing on whichever thing they enjoy the most :)

The quest says "...with a book that has fire (exact word, though may be part of a larger word) in the title or series."
