Now I'm off to finish some quests and maybe get my kitty?
PS does anyone know what the EXP level is required to get up to level 15?"
Wow, congrats Rebecca!!! I need to get to that last zombie one of these days...

Thanks, Cat!

Maybe we can bribe Kelly with some rat stew to create some new monsters for us!

Sounds great, Tea.
Ideas for new monsters:
* one hidden toughie (with high HP - around 100 or so), that shows up once in a fortnight or once a month. To keep it simple, the reward can be around 5 xp (and a potion token or some money).
So far there's only one hidden monster, it would be nice to have another one.
* one summoned monster - to lure it to your position you have to lay a trap that consists of 5 Kindlecorn Meats (it would be nice to have some use for it). Reward again XP and/or potion(s), or cooking ingredients (e.g. 1 salt and 1 herb).
It would be great if the monsters were a bit tougher than the regular and timed monsters we already have. As I wrote - increase their HP - that way the battle will last longer. Or/and their attack can be poisonous or can cause a disease.
As for the quests -I think you can use the Christmas seasonal challenge here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... - You can say that The Queen Sky in a fit of madness dicreed that the Christmas in the Novel Kingdom is celebrated in the month of March and that's it. We never had any RPG Christmas quests as far as I remember. And I don't think that anybody would complain.
EDIT: Tea, I PMed you two quest ideas that I came up with. :)

My problem with making monsters is I don't know how tough to make them. Until I start playing with numbers (you know trying to kill it) I'm not sure what is high hp or attack. So suggestions and help with that would be great.
Also I don't have magic and I'm ashamed to say I have no idea how it really works so that's another thing making monsters hard to think of.

Yes! Thank you!!

Read a book with the words (up, down, right, left, north, south, east or west) in the title to draw the map. The word may be part of a larger unrelated word (e.g. east in the word beast).
That you would either sell for 10 gold OR I will give you a duplication potion and 10 gold and you can dup it for me?
THANKS!

No gold needed :)

Thank you! Here is the Duplication potion! :)

Right - Brighter Than the Sun Read 1/19/19
Up - Level Up Read 01/23/19
Down - Down on Her Luck Read 02/25/19
South - Southern Myths Read 03/17/19

Thanks!!

I'd like to complete a couple more quests before leaving for vacation, though :) Here's what I need:
- 3 books with a princess
- 3 books set at sea or with water on the cover
- 3 books with a metal in the title or series.
I can offer 5 gold each. Thanks so much in advance to anyone willing to help!

You have to complete The Easter Bilby quest. The Easter Bilby gifts you with a captured bunny that will lay an egg that heals 3 hp every Sunday. The egg must be eaten that week or it will rot.
You can alternately use the egg (before it rots) to make glue.

I sent a couple of quest ideas to the mods about a year ago. Or why not do something as simple as reapeating one of the already existing events - like the Dragon one from some years ago? It would be quite easy - just open a new thread and slap a "2020 edition" at the end of the title.
What do you think?

What if we all make some suggestions: new creatures or new quests. All open for beta. Everybody could suggest improvements and such?
That should make it easier for the mods.
I'll start with a new monster:
Common Monster
Splintercat (Weekly, Minor Hiding)
15 Attack, 70 Health
Lately, there have been too many splintercats roaming the wood to the north of the Novel Kingdom Castle. Splintercats jump from tree to tree with terrific speed and knock tree branches off. The forrest is no longer safe for our princess to take her daily walk there and read books in the shade of the trees. The princess commanded you to keep the splintercat population under control.
Reward: 5 XP, 1 Tree Branch
(I have a quest in mind where we could use those tree branches)

Kindlecorn soup for the soul
Fighting monsters is a tough job but someone has to do it. After the last fight you noticed that your hired companions are so tired they're almost asleep on their feet. It won't do. Take them home and cook them a nice strengthening soup.
You need to have a Kitchen (at least LVL 1).
Part 1: Equip your kitchen. (non-repeatable)
Spell out CAULDRON.
Pay 15 gold to the blacksmith to obtain new cauldron for your kitchen.
Reward: 1 Cauldron, 10 XP
Part 2: Cook the soup (repeatable)
You need to have a cauldron.
Obtain 5 Tree Branches to gather the wood.
Obtain 5 Phoenix feathers to light the fire.
Cook the soup using the recipe bellow:
Kindlecorn strengthening soup recipe
10 Kindlecorn meats
1 salt
1 carrot
1 pea
1 book with author's first or last name starting with W for water
Reward: 1 Kindlecorn soup - Doubles your hired mercenary's strength for 1 battle,
i.e. Lady Ysmay (+10 HP after every round), Kili (+4 AP every round), Amile and Ester (4x drops from common and timed monsters), Kenny (+40% to base spell value).
You can't cook more than 1 Kindlecorn soup a month (but you can store them for later use).
Sorry about the lack of updates for a while! We will be looking at getting some new quests (and hopefully some new adventurers) up soon.
In the meantime I've set up a thread for any ideas here and would love for your involvement in creating new quests.

Before anyone gets too overexcited - I haven't played the challenge myself so will need a bit of time to get up to speed!

If I may I'd suggest releasing The Academy - part II quest now. While it has a long description, it's relatively easy, has some reading requirements and a participation aspect is always fun. You'd just need to rephrase some of the tasks to sound more natural - English is (apparently) not my first language. ;)
It would give us something to do while you're getting familiar with the game.

Sarah wrote: "I love those ideas, Zuzana! Very creative, and great to see new uses for things we can already collect."
Thanks, ladies. :) Do you have any quest, monster or events ideas? Or just an area or dead ends in the game that need solving?
e.g. So far, we have no use for the magik books, some of the drop items, the Record, etc. Would be nice to make a list.
I'm working on a spreadsheet of how things can be used, monsters, rewards etc. It's going to be slow progress but hopefully will work out where things deadend and where we can branch out and create new adventures.
