Zuzana | 2568 comments Sally, good luck with puppy training. What level are you working on? Basic obedience or are you upgrading to other abilities - combat, tracking or fetching?

Absolutely - I’m a co-mod of a very small private group of 20 - and it’s hard to keep up with that lot! I would crumple trying to be everywhere with this group 😀

Thanks for pointing that out! Will sort out the new thread when I'm on the mod account later.

We do our best to make things fun and keep track, but sometimes we don't manage it.

Also thanks for answering the question about sticking books together to level up weapons Zuzana! We don't like to make things too easy!

Zuzana | 2568 comments Lysa, you're doing great.

If you're looking for easier XP. Try Academy II quest, too.

And don't forget to fill in the mods' questionnaire for 5 gold and 5XP: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 9010: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2568 comments Laurie, bunny is a great pet to have early on. Those +3HP every week make a huge difference especially when the gap between levels gets a bit wider and you can't level up every week by attacking monsters. So good luck with the Easter Bilby quest. :D

Laurie B | 928 comments Zuzana wrote: "Laurie, bunny is a great pet to have early on. Those +3HP every week make a huge difference especially when the gap between levels gets a bit wider and you can't level up every week by attacking mo..."

Yes - my apprenticeship mentor, Sir Sarah, encouraged me to do that quest as soon as possible and showed me how great it was by gifting me one of her own bunny eggs each week during my training. Now that we're done, I miss those eggs, lol! I'm currently at level 5, nearly level 6, and the experience gap is definitely widening! I should be able to complete the Easter Bilby quest before too long, so I'm excited. :D

message 9012: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments With the Easter Bilby (not bunny) quest I only have two more tasks to complete - and I have the books picked for them.

I have one task to finish the Academy II - and of course that book isn’t the same as the two I need for Bilby.
That would be too easy 😂😂😂

1. Visit the Goodreads blog: News & Interviews & check out at least 3 of their articles. (link to the articles you read & report on the most interesting one in The Local Tavern)

Horror, Weird Fiction, and Slasher Justice in ‘The Only Good Indians’

I've had this on my TBR list since right after it's release, but this article has bumped it up a bit.

GR: The story has this suggestion that the characters are actually peeking through to other realms of cause and effect, and justice.

SGJ: Right, and it’s a closed cycle of justice. In horror, there are open cycles of justice and closed cycles of justice. Open cycle is, someone’s walking down the street and a demon jumps into them, possesses them. They didn’t do anything to invite this demon in, it’s just random. Closed cycle is, same guy is walking down the street and they kick over the cup of some homeless person. Then a demon jumps into their head. That’s a closed cycle of justice because they invited that demon in. They invoked the demon.

Welcome Patti!

That sounds like an interesting book Lyssa - I'll give it a miss though as horror really isn't my thing!

Keeper of the Books ★ NBRC ★ | 175 comments With the expansion of our team of noble adventurers (plus a few trouble-makers), Queen Skye has asked me, Keeper of the Books, to introduce myself. I'll be here to answer questions, update you with the new quests as things change round the kingdom and generally try to keep everything running smoothly. I look forward to 'meeting' you all as our wonderful kingdom goes from strength to strength.

Megs (meganlikesbooks) | 374 comments Welcome Keeper! The one thing I'd like to request is that the monthly classifieds on caravan hill get updated again. It was a nice way to get some extra gold!

message 9020: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 1765 comments Quick question - I have finished the Easter Bilby quest - yay me!

It says ... The Easter Bilby gifts you with a captured bunny that will lay an egg that heals 3 hp every Sunday. The egg must be eaten that week or it will rot...

Now my question is - today is Tuesday (in Australia) do I have to wait until Sunday to get my extra 3 hp or do I get the 3hp now and then every Sunday hear after?
I get they don’t accumulate and if I don’t use them they go and I have to wait until a new bunny egg is laid.

message 9021: by Zuzana (new)

Zuzana | 2568 comments I am afraid it lays eggs only on Sundays - they rot if not eaten in 7 days.

Sally906 | 1765 comments Zuzana wrote: "I am afraid it lays eggs only on Sundays - they rot if not eaten in 7 days."

No worries - I knew about the rot bit but wasn’t sure if I got an egg on receipt then one only on Sundays thereafter.

I can be patient 😀

We'll add that to the list of things to look into!

If anyone is feeling short of gold, the Leprechauns visited a few years ago, and their quest is still available. They are hoping for a few visitors to celebrate St Patrick's Day tomorrow.

Mel | 100 comments We can do the Leprechauns quest? I'd love to do that! I also like the classifieds idea, though that probably takes more work from the moderators.

Keeper of the Books ★ NBRC ★ | 175 comments round potion bottle containing purple liquid turning into a wave

The Queen's Council has recently held a meeting about the 'find items' potion and come to a ruling regarding how it can be used. From this day forward, it can be used to find items that you receive in the game i.e. from monster drops or quests.

Its description is as below:
Find Items Potion - 6 Gold - Magically obtain half the items needed for a specific quest. (Note the use of this potion when turning in your quest. If an odd number of items is required, the potion rounds down the reward. Example: Requires 3 items, potion provides 1. Requires 4 items, potion provides 2.) Note that this is only valid for items you receive in the game i.e. from quests or monsters.

This ruling takes precedence over all previous 'find item' potion decisions.

I'm not sure if i remember it correctly but maybe 6 months between re-reads?

EDIT: So I was wrong, there was no limit. I must have mixed it with another challenge.

message 9033: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5687 comments Mod
6 months is the geberal rule for rereads unless something says something different for that specific challenge

message 9034: by Zuzana (last edited Mar 27, 2021 01:48AM) (new)

Zuzana | 2568 comments So I went through the Tavern posts and found that re-reads were allowed without any restrictions (other than actually re-reading the book).

Sophie, maybe we should say that the 6 months rule will be in force for books finished from now on?

Here is what I found in the post from Tea, who co-modded the game at the time:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

BTW I think that the 6 months rule is sensible.

message 9037: by Laurie B (new)

Laurie B | 928 comments Quick question - I'm pretty sure I understand this correctly, but I want to be sure. I tried searching the old comments, but there are so many pages. 😳

When something in the game says it will "give you one extra attack" or "grant you one additional attack" for your weapon/weapons, it means it gives you +1 AP, correct? Since it says "attack" instead of "attack point," I wanted to clarify that it doesn't mean one extra attack action.

So if I had both a horse and a combat hat, for example, my level 4 sword would have 6 +1 +1= 8 AP. Is that right?

I am a newcomer trying to survive in this dangerous land. I come from far-away Spain but I am a Knight of the world and I have also lived in the UK. My services are not required there anymore so I have just arrived at Novel Kingdom. My Hero is still weak though so I am hiding from the Big Monsters but Rats and Goblins are all now under control.

With the help of Sir Sophie I am trying to navigate all the information in this challenge and I am looking forward to learning more!
