Hi folks! I've been looking for reading challenges for the new year and this one sounds SO much fun! But...are there still folks around playing it? I sure hope so! So much work obviously went into this community--huge props to the founders and mods!

As far as I know, there's a handful of us still playing. I encourage you to join in! There haven't been any updates in a while, but there are tons of quests to do and monsters to defeat! I've been playing for ages and I still have so much left to accomplish. And who knows, maybe some new stuff will come along. Let me know if you have any questions and welcome!

I am still playing after years and there's still quests to do and monsters to kill. For me this is slow solo game.

You can play it in a way where you mark every book when you're finished with them and keep up with weekly monsters or you wait a bit and then add more stuff at once. Whatever speed suits you.

Thank you so much for these responses and the welcome! I think I'll try giving it a shot in the new year and will create a thread with my beginner heroine's 'adventures'. Cheers!

Check out few threads and see how other people are doing it and pick one system that makes sense to you. No need to invent a wheel again. Happy reading in 2024!

Welcome - things have quieted down here, but plenty of people are still playing. Ask away if you have questions. I'm a newer player (3 years and still learning as I go) and I'm enjoying it!

Just chiming in to say that I'm still here as well, but I often go months at a time between updates. But yeah, there is still a ton of stuff to explore. There are also still some discussions happening in the background regarding new stuff, so hopefully we'll see that at some point. Always exciting to have new people playing!

I have read all Austens novels but it was a long time ago. I would prefer to re-read either Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion or Northanger Abbey since I remember least about them.

EDIT: I'm thinking 1 chapter a day for the first week. If anybody wants to catch up till Sunday they can manage. And after that, we can pick up pace.

Do Mercenary twins double Kelpie's drop?

Kelpie appears once in two weeks, so it seems they are a timed monster, yet they are not classified as such, they're a "magical monster".

So I wonder whether Aester and Aemile bonus affects the Kelpie skin reward.

Santa is struggling this year. After all the disruption in the Lexicon Kingdom over the last few years his elves haven't been able to make all the books needed as presents. Queen Skye thinks that some of her heroes might be able to help him finish the books and wrap them ready to give to the children of Lexicon Kingdom at the Christmas party at the Theatre.

To help Santa to prepare for Christmas:
1/ Read a book that has Winter, Christmas, Holidays, Mistletoe or Santa in the title.
2/ Read a book that was first published in December (any year).
3/ Use a book that you finished reading in December (any year).
4/ Report the books you read for this quest at the Theatre.

Reward: 3 XP and 3 Santa Coupons.

Santa Coupon can be used in any quest as substitute for any one book. You can't use more than one Santa Coupon at a time. (hide spoiler)]

and Stick to your New Year's Resolutions - task #10. Pick up a number and stick with it.

You can collect your reward for finishing this task no sooner than 1st December. Task 10 is a participation task (you can use the books you read for other quests). Once you finish the task, report it in the Theatre thread and you can collect your reward.

Those Santa Coupons are super useful, you can use them to fulfil the more difficult tasks in other quests.

It's easy 15 XP and a Potion Token. All you need to do is share your ideas for new quests and other features in the Game.

Yes, please. Next year, more quests and other updates to other aspects of the game will be posted.

It's possible to start again, but you can also just continue where you stopped. Don't waste your progress.

It would be cool to see more monsters that required the magick because we haven't used that much. Or monsters that turn into multiples or something. I'm not the best at thinking of the strategies to make them difficult.

Yup. I have a plan for a monster that would be summoning help from other creatures every round until it's killed.

• Read a book with a hat (on or off a person) for a black fedora hat (1 item)
• Read a book with a knight for a knight medallion (1 item)

---- do these have to be on the cover? I only ask because the other tasks specific say "on the cover"?

Also are there any quests and/or monsters that AREN'T listed in the Quests and Monsters thread?

I believe that all monsters are in the Monsters thread. Not sure about the quests, the last one isn't there for sure. I use Notice board for quests.

I believe that the hat one was supposed to be a cover task, but it doesn't say so in the description. The way I see it is you're in the clear if the hat is mentioned in the book. The same goes for the knight.

Sorry 1 more question - for Snowflake Heart can you ONLY attack with the Phoenix Feather? Or can you just use the feather to lure them, then use another weapon?

Rebecca, you must lure it with the feather and then from round 2 it's your decision whether to attack with another feather or other weapon/spell.

Rebecca, I'm looking at the battle and I'm not getting how you got to your AP unless you're using potions. But it's 1 a.m. and I'm tired so takr this with a grain of salt.

Your basic ap is 11+2 = 13
bonuses are +6 + bauble (+3 cat only 1st round)
= 1st round - 3 (only cat attacks)
2nd round - 21
3rd round - 22
4th round - 23

Does it make sense? Maybe I'm not seeing some bonus. Maybe you consumed some potions you didn't mention in the comment above?

As for the healing after the battle, it's +1 HP for a lvl 2 Rocky and +1 HP for the Orb of Water

1 Egg is consumed at rest once a week + 3 HP

which added together is 5, so if you're eating your egg after this battle, then it's +5 HP and you're right.

This is why I needed a check because I knew something was wrong but couldn’t put my finger on it.

No problem. It might get a bit confusing especially if you stopped playing for a while. Feel free to post battles or questions about AP, I'll try to help. :)

I would say, that if you buy the book after the quest started then you're in the clear. For people who actually read the book I'll say that the date when they finished the book counts.

Just my opinion.
