Thanks!"
I can share this template battle with you.
I have hired Twins as mercenaries (doubles drop items). In my inventory, I have a magic Shard, a Shield and Orb of Water. My pets: a kitty with Lucky 13 collar, a puppy with Intermediate Combat certificate, a Baroque horse and Rocky LVL 2.
Splintercat 6 AP, 30 HP
AP= 8 - 2 (rocky, shield)= 6
weak against Earth magik: Tremor (1 Clump of Dirt, 1 Bird Feather)= (10 + 1 shard) x 2= 22
+ pets= 1 horse + 2 puppy + 3 cat (1st round only - Lucky 13 collar) = 28 first round, (26 second round)
normal against Fire magik: Fireball (1 Ball of Wool, 1 Phoenix Feather)= 10+1= 11 + pets = (17 first round), 14 second round
Twins as companions (mercenaries)
bait: - 3 Dropbear meat
1st round
Hero (Tremor): 30-28= 2
Splintercat: H-6
2nd round
Hero (Fireball): 2-14= Dead
Hero: + 2 XP + 2 Tree branches (twins) - 3 Dropbear Meat - 4 HP (rocky, orb)

I used Fireball for my 2nd turn attack, because I have much more fire spell ingredients in my inventory than Clumps of Dirt. You can use any other spell, even the weak one will have enough power to knock the Splintercat off.

That's so smart! I didn't even think of using a different spell!

I thought about that. But rules imply that hero has to take action - hit with a weapon or cast a spell.
EDIT: I thought about it some more. And the answer is no. The hero takes lead and their pets follow their example. They attack when their "master" does. There are rare exceptions that are specifically explained in monster descriptions (e.g., Wendigo).

We received 1 Magic Book for killing the Rare Binding.
We received 1 Book of Magik for killing the Thriller Zombie.
Now we receive 1 Magik Book for killing The Great Emerald Dragon.
So are all 3 of these the same? And is there somewhere to use them, or is that still pending?

BTW: Cathy, shield doesn't add 1 HP to your health unless you mean that you have activated your Green Gem.
Shield by itself detracts 1 AP from your foe's attack. E.g., Drop Bear - Base stats = 8 Attack, 15 Health ---> if you have shield Drop Bear's attack power drops to 7 AP.

"Skills:
• Doubles drops from common and timed monsters."
Does it matter if the monsters are magical? There are magical monsters that are also timed.... Could we get a list of monsters the Twins apply to?

"The word may be plural." - but what if the scrounger word is plural, can the word in the book be singular?
I'm going with no, exact matches just to be sure, but was wondering how others interpreted.

Yes, my shield is activated so: Green gem in the shield - adds 1 to max HP.
Unless I'm misunderstanding?
Also for those 3 are they the same then, or different? Just need to be sure for my tracking.

Magik Books are all the same, but you will need them all.

*facepalm* I guess I’m missing a bunch of kelpie skin lol

I've got some nasty zombies to kill....

Queen Skye was the HAPPY Queen in the entire world. She TEMPTED everyone in Novel Kingdom. But the SHADOWS she cared for the most was MACKENZIE. SIR CATHY wanted to be her DEMON. It went DASTARDLY!
The End.

(My not so subtle way to remind everybody that Digging for relief is one of the essential quests.)

Haha I love that word! When I read that book, I knew I had to use it for this task. Really read it because of another game (I think it was called Books for Humanity) and when I saw that title, I knew I needed to read it! And surprised that I didn't have as many adverbs in my book titles.

Cool looking bird!

I only need 3 more books for the well… but I’m reading 2 for the Fence rn. Also, I have almost no backlog of books to apply so 🤷🏻♀️

Working on it- I have several priorities after being gone so long:)

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

"It's partially resistant to potions and spells. You can't use any potion more than once; after its first use the dragon counteracts the potion's effect (it gains resistance for the duration of the battle)."
So for example, the Greater Poison Potion...
Does that mean we can use it for the first battle (-10 each round) but once we run away, we can't use it more for battles? Or does that mean it would only work for round 1 of battle 1. But then we could use it again next week when we return for battle 2?
I think because this dragon is attacked in parts I'm just getting confused about all the rules effecting each part VS the ENTIRE battle.
Also Spells have no effect with the exception of stopping the dragon's regeneration (see above). - Does that mean we can't use spells at all? I thought that was the way to fight this one since we can only use sword and staff once per day.

Lol! Good job, Rebecca. Enjoy your first pail of water this Sunday!
Re: Your Emerald Dragon questions:
Poison potions work only one round. The resistance resettles every battle, so next time ( another day) you can use poison again, it will affect the dragon for 1 turn only again.
Similarly PPP, Weapon enhancement potion, or Damage potion - all would work against the dragon for one turn only.
!!! The Dragon stops every potion from working more than once (in the current battle) - it means healing potions, shield potion, stoneskin potion, etc, as well.
Spells don't work at all except to stop the dragon from regenerating at the end of each battle. Once you make your last hit, while you're retreating, you throw either a book or a spell at the dragon to stop it from regenerating half the health points it lost in the current battle.

This is how I'm reading it -
I think you're confusing it with the Great Sapphire Dragon - which you can only use each weapon once per battle. I don't see that same under the Emerald Dragon.
The GPP would only work for the 1st round due to the resistance, and spells are pretty much useless (unless you use a spell at end of that battle to stop the regenerative powers). But because each battle is separate and it resets each time, you can use the GPP again at the next battle (but again only for 1 round).

Where did you read that? I think you're confusing it with the Sapphire dragon. That one has limited use of means of attack ( sword, staff, each type of spell - only once per battle).
Also, the dragon can be battled only once a week. (This is true for both the Emerald and the Saphire dragon.)
I hope it' clearer now, Rebecca. :)

don't you mean "round", as in 4th round? your bauble should work silently in the background within the one battle. if you have a bauble it's more efficient to strike the dragon with that weapon later in the battle.

Yes sorry round. Okay that's what I was thinking and how I had it planned.
Thank you!!

Thanks for the nuts! My notifications have been allll messed up.

Alternate task 13 for the Academy - Part II quest:
"13 - Ask your friends and the Goodreads community what you should read next. Use a Goodreads feature to do that."
Cathy, I'll need to contact the mods to update the quest in the Quests and Notice Board threads. But the new task 13 will be the one above. So if you want you can go ahead and complete it so you can claim your Health Gem.

Yes, the wording might be slightly different but it means either "weak to" or "strong to". :-)
I found "has a notable vulnerability to..." "is vulnerable to..." "is particularly vulnerable to..." for weak and "is (highly) resistant to..." or "with (notable) resistance to..." for strong.
