Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments It's either clothing or 2015 right? And that's original pub date not re-release date?

No - not even close! With the Green Dragon.

Yep. And yep.

I know. Luckily I had only one book so far so it was easy to switch it somewhere else.

It can be a bit outside the box as far as clothing is concerned like:
Housewitch A Novel by Katie Schickel <-- apron

It also could have multiple pieces of clothing. Something like:
I Do -- But I Don't by Cara Lockwood

message 1057: by Cait S (new)

Cait S | 2825 comments Yeah I still have to replace everything. I have women in fancy historical dresses for the most part. No big deal, just a little work to redo

Claire | 4251 comments For the academy we have to participate in a buddy read. Can I use the book I read for the buddy read in another quest or is it already considered as a used book?

message 1059: by Sarah (last edited Mar 03, 2015 03:20PM) (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments Mods - can these be considered as healing words - "mud", "sugar", "vinegar" - all in healing remedies and have healing properties - I can give examples. And can "close your eyes" count as a synonym for rest and healing words, also can "atonement" be considered like a spiritual healing like when atoning for your sins?

message 1060: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments How do I turn in a quest? Please don't ask for links. I can't do links.

message 1061: by Cait S (new)

Cait S | 2825 comments Sarah, you don't turn them in. You just keep then on your thread, filled in with the information of what you read and when and that it's finished. If you look at everyone else's threads, I'm sure all of them have a "completed quests" post so you have an idea of what to do. I'd link you mine but I'm on my phone, feel free to look at it though if you need an example.

You can use it. The Academy is a participation quest so all the books used there can be used in one other spot too.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments Sarah wrote: "How do I turn in a quest? Please don't ask for links. I can't do links."

You can brag here. ☺
There is no need for you to turn in quest. Just mark it some way that you've finished it. Most people (btw, you can check other people's logs if you haven't done so) have post for finished quests, so they move it there. Basically you're the one who keeps track so do it how you find it easiest.

Sarah | 3273 comments I had another question too? Post 1059

message 1066: by Cait S (new)

Cait S | 2825 comments I'm not a mod so I can't help you there. Tea or Kelly will have to let you know when they can. If those words are on the approved links list, yes. But other wise I don't think so? I know there was a lot of discussion a few weeks ago on the fact that a lot of words don't count for this specific quest.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments Sarah wrote: "I had another question too? Post 1059"

I know. We are letting Kelly answer that one. :)
From previous experiences, I'd say no, but Kelly has final say.

If you're looking for words for the quest you should choose from one of these lists:
http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/heal?s=t
http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/cure?s=t
http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/rest?s=t
http://www.thesaurus.com/browse/blood...

If you're doing the resting healing that's 1 hp per book you can use your discretion to pick a healing word to spell it out. Just finish spelling one word before starting the next.

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Did all the questions get answered? Sometimes I read them on my phone but come back later to answer them on the computer so sometimes things get missed.

message 1070: by Reva (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Read 3 or 5 books from 2015 or with clothing on the cover to acquire a nice selection of fabrics to construct the Queen's new clothing. Fashion must always be done in odd numbers. (Earn 3 experience for 3 books or 6 experience for 5 books)

No where does it state that people cannot be WEARING clothing on the cover Many of us have long ago completed this quest. I for one would not be happy to have to redo this quest and determine how points allocated in early February would have impacted on leveling up and attacks etc.

I suggest that you Grandfather those of us affected please, then change the rules.

message 1071: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments I'm fine with people keeping ones they already did. I understand that there are lots of requirements in lots of quests and not everyone will interpret them the same way.

I'm going to leave the intent the same and people may choose how closely they follow it.

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3793 comments I finally read The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins so now I know what all the fuss is about!

message 1075: by Kelly (new)

message 1076: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3793 comments Really good! Completely unexpected which I really liked.

message 1077: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments I've had a hold on it at the library for about a month. Still 20th in line so it's nice to hear that it might be worth the wait!

message 1078: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3793 comments Yes it is! I was number 164 when I first put it on hold so I was so happy that i waited.

Emma (M) | 1777 comments I really loved The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins as well. I listened to the Audible version, which was really good.

message 1080: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments This challenge has got inside my head. I went laser-questing with friends this evening instead of reading but on the train back I made myself a little to do list for when I got home that basically read:
- Kill rat
- Kill goblin
- See if I have enough hp to kill bat
- Give bones to necromancer
- Claim many exp
- Sleep

...so if anyone was looking over my shoulder at my list they would have thought me a right nutter :-P

message 1081: by Alex (new)

Alex Willis (fightingokra) | 2 comments Claim you are a witch, and if they do not stop looking over your shoulder at your list you will cast a spell on them?

message 1082: by RachelvlehcaR (new)

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 4364 comments That is so funny. You are not alone on this. I make lists too. I told friends about tho and they looked at me like I was crazy then called me a geek.

message 1083: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Lol. I tried to explain it to people at work (and they are software geeks) and I got funny looks :)

message 1087: by Reva (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Maybe it's time to tackle the 600 page book so I can complete HORSE.

Any suggestions?

message 1088: by Alex (new)

Alex Willis (fightingokra) | 2 comments If you like darker fantasy try Steven Eeikson's Gardens of the Moon which sits at just over 650 pages. I can't recommend this series enough.

Sorry for not providing a link, using the GR app.

message 1089: by Alex (new)

Alex Willis (fightingokra) | 2 comments Also the paperback versions of Steven King's 'Salem's Lot and The Shining are over 600 pages each and are great books.

message 1090: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments My aunt has cottoned on that most of the books I read are for challenges, so when i saw her recently she asked why I had chosen my current read. I said it was to get a minor heal potion. I don't think she's going to ask again.

Felt good to kill all three common monsters in a row though. Pew pew pew!

Reva wrote: "Maybe it's time to tackle the 600 page book so I can complete HORSE.

Have you read The Name of the Wind? It's my top book so far of 2015, has a 4.5 average rating and comes in at just over 600 pages.

message 1091: by Tia (last edited Mar 06, 2015 07:14AM) (new)

Tia (fatgirlfatbooks) Gotta love rat slaughtering days, haha! It makes my Fridays even better.

@Reva - I'm reading Battle Royale (inspiration/source for The Hunger Games), which is just over 600 pages and something I've been dying to read for a while. Here's the description:

Koushun Takami's notorious high-octane thriller is based on an irresistible premise: a class of junior high school students is taken to a deserted island where, as part of a ruthless authoritarian program, they are provided arms and forced to kill one another until only one survivor is left standing.

message 1092: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3793 comments OOh Tia I read that book about 10 years ago (before the hunger games came out) and LOVED it!! No one I know has ever heard of it before.

message 1093: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments I've seen the film and read vol 1 of the graphic novel, didn't realise there was a normal novel too!

message 1094: by Tia (new)

Tia (fatgirlfatbooks) I've heard really good things and am glad you enjoyed it, too, Rebecca! I'm excited to read it because I've been told it's much better than The Hunger Games.

message 1095: by Tia (new)

Tia (fatgirlfatbooks) Also, I was so worried about trying to level up and also do quests that don't give XP (the horse, the Midas quests, etc.), but I'm finding it to be pretty easy to balance the two. Since I'm using strategic leveling(i.e. saving books needed for level ups till I need the HP boost), I'm having to put some spaces between XP quests that is filled perfectly with the books I need to get a horse and some gold!

message 1096: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3793 comments I was having the same problem. I need to keep reminding myself that there will be quests every month, so I don't need to stress out about getting every single one done! I am so intrigued by what we can do with the gold that it's helping me feel motivated to use books for those as well.

message 1097: by Tia (new)

Tia (fatgirlfatbooks) I sometimes feel more like a pirate than a knight because my brain is often like, "Gold gold gold gold gold." I can't wait to go shopping (buying potions is much cooler than buying groceries, after all). =p

message 1098: by Reva (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Yes, a little retail therapy is called for after killing goblins and bats. I've got gold burning a hole in my pockets.

message 1099: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments I am a begger knight, or a poor wench lady. Too busy completing other quests to get any gold. Won't get any gold, but will get my horse, the best thing gold could buy.

message 1100: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3793 comments Man I am so torn about getting the horse! I know I should buckle down and do it, but it's so many precious books to use. Decisions decisions.
