The Challenge Factory discussion

Many exciting and thrilling events have happened during your fifth year here at Hogwarts and now it's time to prepare for the difficult and dreadful O.W.L. exams. The best way to get ready for the tests is to practice the spells with a partner.

How it works:

This is a partner challenge. Two 5th year students (aka partners) will engage in a friendly competition to prepare for their O.W.L. exams. After signing up, each pair will receive a thread, where they will compete with each other and collect points.

There will be 45 spells to choose from. Partners will need to choose which spell to practice (read for) first, and again after each match.

Each spell will have 5 tasks. Four of the tasks will receive 1 or 2 points. One of the tasks will give 0 points. You will not know the points beforehand. Points will be randomly assigned and given after the Completion Post is posted.

Partners CAN do the same task, but you will get the same points.

If a partner has not checked in after two weeks, the other partner will receive 2 points for that match and choose the next spell. If the missing partner still has not checked in after another two weeks, the remaining partner will be declared the winner. (That disappearing spell you used worked quite well :) That student can then ask for another partner and start a new practice session if (s)he desires.

Your practice session will end when both partners decide they are ready for their O.W.L. exams. (In other words, you're ready to stop :)

ϟIf you are stuck on a task, you can use a spell- (pun intended) it-out option using the letters HOGWARTS. You will not receive a point.ϟ

There will be spoilers in each Spell's information. If you haven't read the books or watched the movies, you may not want to participate in this challenge.

RULES:

* Books must be 140 pages.
* Re-reads and audio books are okay.
* No comics, graphic novels or manga.
* Page count for audio books will be determined the first paper version shown on Goodreads. From the book's page, select “all editions”, then find the first paper edition as your guide.
* For title tasks, you can use or ignore the articles 'a', 'an' and 'the'.
* For the genre task, it must be on the book's main page.

If you need a partner, then I can assign you one. Note your speed in your sign-up post.
Also indicate which house you want to be in: Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Gryffindor.

slow: 1 book every two weeks
medium: 1 book per week
fast: 2+ books per week

Please be reasonable about your speed. Keep in mind that challenge tasks are specific and might slow down your speed!

I wanna! :D Speed is definitely fast, and I'd love to find a partner as ambitious (or crazy) as I am who wants to go through the entire list of spells with me.

Sounds fun! I’d love to play! I can commit to fast for 2-3 books a week but also willing to read less for this challenge! So basically put me wherever you need me :)

Feel free to pick your first spell and make plans. You can't finish the book for that first spell until December 1.

I'd like to play, if someone would be willing to do a medium level game that may or may not turn into a slow game. I have had utter crap for concentration lately, but I'm hoping this'll help me finally finish some freaking books. ^_^

Also, I'm super extra Hufflepuff.

We can be in the same house. Medium works for me.

Lanelle, Kellene and I will be a team. We will do medium and be Hufflepuffs.

Oh, I want to play, but have no idea what’s going on or how to play! 😂🤣 Because of that, whatever the slow level is, I'll do that!

I would happily do the slow level with Natalie if she still needs a partner. I also have no idea what's going on... I think I would be a Gryffindor.

This sounds like fun and I would like to give it a try. I can do medium or slow (although I wish that I were able to do fast as completing all spells sounds like quite a challenge). I don't care which house, so whatever my partner prefers is fine with me.

I am so freaking in Harry Potter is a vital aspect of my life.

1-2 books per week, so slow probably but if nobody signs up for that I can probably do medium.
