Kristie | 19174 comments Oh wow! I'm first to report. Now there's a shocker. It must be a Christmas miracle.

WoF: Kristie

I read The Mistletoe Promise. It was a beautiful sappy little Christmas story, which is just what I was hoping for.

I read it for #10 Mistletoe. It is tagged romance on its main page.

I read One More for Christmas by Sarah Morgan. It has a wreath on the cover. I’m not much for romances, but this was not your typical romance. Most of the book focused on the relationship between a mother, two daughters and a granddaughter and rebuilding relationships. There was romance in it, but it was sweet and not “bodice tearing” antics. I quite enjoyed it.

I picked my book for number four, the star tree toppers. Read a book with the word “star” in the title.

I read The Pull of the Stars

link edited. clr

message 22: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59930 comments The Pull of the Stars? I have it on my wishlist. I see you gave it 5 stars. Did you find the theme of pandemic to be a little difficult right now?

message 23: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Re pandemic: it was definitely erie, Janice. The government warnings were similar to what we are going through. The difference being that they did not really know how it was transmitted then. They were advised to eat an onion a day and stay home if they were sick. The hospitals were being overwhelmed and with the war shortages, it was more of a struggle as the doctors and nurses went down with it. I was surprised that they thought one could not catch it again, if they had had it and recovered. Is it true today? The midwife/maternity theme was overwhelming at times, but amazing still. There is no dialogue punctuation and was hard to get used to at first. Well written and will fit the nun theme for next year.

message 24: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59930 comments It sounds interesting, but it would be hard to read at this point. And no dialogue punctuation? Grrr.

message 25: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments After a while, you don't really miss the dialogue punctuation, but at first, I kept thinking "something is missing", until I realized what it was. Keep it in mind for next year. It really is an interesting story. The pandemic part of the story is quite different than what we are fighting with today. I thought the nurse/patient part of the story was fascinating. On top of that, the discussion with the night nurse, who is a nun, was quite different regarding un-wed mothers and their babies. The nursing part of the story was exceptional.

message 26: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59930 comments Thanks Cherie. I have it on my wishlist, so will consider it.

Hello My name is Jamie and this is my first post.

I read Twelve Slays of Christmas (sorry guys I don't know how to link just the name)
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... for the #5 Holly. The lead of the book name is Holly.
I really enjoyed this book. I didn't think I would since its not normally something I would pick up. This book played out like a Hallmark Holiday movie.
I thought I had it all figured out and I was wrong until last few chapters.
Very good and if you like "Who Done It?" then this book is for you.

Hi Jamie. You need a Wall of Fame Name. Go to this thread and request a unique name.

Are you using the Goodreads app on your phone? I'm not sure how to link using a phone. I prefer a browser. About the comment box is "add book/author". Click on it and enter the book's name in the search field.
