Dec 2020: When Dimple Met Rishi

But that Netflix adaptation was badly done and relied on too many problematic tropes and didn't work with the great source material from the book.

Cute, with a lot of good conversations about love, marriage, dreams.
I enjoyed closing out the year with a light YA rom-com. Overall, I liked the development of Dimple and Rishi's relationship arc, from "enemies" to soft-of-friends to a romantic couple. It was nice to see how Dimple and Rishi challenged each other's perspective and values while helping the other be a better version of themselves. I think that kind of trust and support is more compelling to me than any of the romantic scenes in this book. The dual narrative was a good tool for comedic moments. I was cringing and laughing during the not-date scene.
I thought Sandhya did a good job portraying a realistic teen romance set right before college.
Marvin and I mention this in our episode, but we both wished that there was a final presentation scene where all the coders present their apps. It would have been great to see Dimple in her coder element and show her passion to the judges.
