Jake makes her laugh and challenges Naya to rebuild her confidence, which was left toppled by her abusive ex-boyfriend. Soon she’s flirting with the chance at a more serious romantic relationship—except nothing can be that easy. The complicated strings around her dating Jake might destroy her career.

Naya has two options. She can protect her professional reputation and return to her old life or she can flirt with the unknown and stay with the person who makes her feel like she's finally living again.

Chapter 9- (view spoiler)[ Good start so far! I like Naya's character, and I think there is a lot more to Jake than we know... I'm starting to wonder if he'll be involved somehow in the university's cuts. (and Naya's job) I know he said he's here for a wedding, but I think there is more to him, and I like him, so I hope he's not a huge lie. (hide spoiler)]

Page 290 or so... (view spoiler)[ This is pretty intense! I had a feeling the ending would have something pretty big since the big "blowup/fight" happened around the halfway point instead of towards the end.... But the forest scene and Davis was just so tense!! So glad Naya is finding her voice and confidence! (hide spoiler)]

Ending... (view spoiler)[ I really, really enjoyed this one. Probably a 4.5 star for me, but I'm not sure I'll round up to 5 or down to 4. I need a bit of time to think about it, but I really enjoyed this a whole lot more than I thought I would! I liked the epilogue and that it hinted at a proposal, but that the author didn't feel like it needed to happen in this book that already had so much going on. Really enjoyed this one! (view spoiler)[Same, I felt that the argument thing happened a little earlier than it does in most romances, but it turned out to be perfectly timed for the actual angsty bits!
That scene was scary and ..intense is the only other word that comes to mind(sorry for plagiarising you)...the fulfillment I felt when she defended herself was incomparable, and I was so releived when jake finally came back! (hide spoiler)]

Yeah, sometimes the proposal and marriage seems really rushed and too much, so I was pleasantly surprised when it was only hinted!
Though I wouldn't mind seeing a wedding scene in a novella, or included in another book too! :) (hide spoiler)]
