Pamela; I also love this series! On library waiting list for Smoke and Ashes. According to Goodreads #5 The Shadows of Men has a publishing date of July 2021. If so it would work for Prompt #1.

I love Margery Allingham. She set a scene beautifully and as you say could portray a very real sense of menace. One of my favourites is Tiger in the Smoke.
