Momo | 2 comments Hello! I've been racking my mind for months about this book. I read it maybe like 10 years ago around my middle school years. I vaguely remember details almost like a fever dream, but it was the same genre as The Spiderwick Chronicles. It had pictures in some pages. It was about a child going into the woods or a world where there are lots of creepy monsters and things. I think the child befriends a bear? Or a monster that resembles a bear? ((it might've not been a bear but something else so please take this with a grain of salt)) I don't remember if he was good or bad. The drawings were kinda creepy. Gah, I wish I knew more but that's all I can remember atm. I'm sorry it's so vague >.<

Momo is still looking for this book:

"Children fantasy book - about a boy ending up in the woods where he meets a big monster/bear? The monster seems like a friend but still has this scary aura about him. It’s a picture book similar to spiderwick chronicles

Read in early 2000s. I just remember seeing a illustration of the little boy meeting this big creature and the forest or world they’re in is filled with scary things so the creature wants to help him(?) I’m not too sure if it’s the spiderwick chronicles cause I don’t see that same image in the books or feel the same vibe. But I couuuuld be wrong."

Momo, is this a short picture book (roughly 32-48 pages) or a chapter book with illustrations?

Link for Morgan's suggestion - Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.

Kara | 4 comments This sounds similar to Beyond the Deepwoods, the first in the Edge Chronicles!

There's a "banderbear" in Beyond the Deepwoods (The Edge Chronicles The Twig Saga #1) by Paul Stewart Beyond the Deepwoods (book 4 of The Edge Chronicles series) by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell - Kara's suggestion. There are different cover images.
