One of the last cultural things I did in person last year was see him (and his torso!) in Uncle Vanya. Swoon....
I do have a few of his narrations on my audio list, but I like to savour them!

I wish I could have seen that! I'll just have to make do with him reading Chekhov to me instead, lol.

I don't have all of his narrations, but definitely most of them.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12885 comments So glad I finally got around to number 14: The Neverending Story by Michael Ende

Really should have read it as a kid, but never was able to get my hands on it.

I think this is one of those books you really appreciate more when you're younger.

I don't have a TV. this is the first time in over 10 years I've had cause to regret it, lol.

I shall check out Iplayer, thanks!

Definitely! I read Momo when I was about 13, and loved it, but never was able to find a copy of this one. It would probably have been a favourite (like Momo was!).

Judy | 4065 comments #4 off the list - The Way of Kings! Pretty boring for large sections tbh... until around page 800 I was only interested in one of the POVs, but after that it got a lot more interesting overall.

Leona (mnleona) | 22 comments The Last Second The Last Second (A Brit in the FBI, #6) by Catherine Coulter by Catherine Coulter and J T Ellison. It has been on my book shelf since I won from Goodreads in 2019.

I love everything that Sanderson writes, and I tried starting that book 3 times and the first two times I faded out around the same time. However I made it past that point another 50 or so pages the 3rd time and I ended up reading the whole book in a 24 hour binge. So good, but it does have the first book set up issues for the first stretch.

I love having multiple choices through Overdrive - it's awesome! Although, I had found several of my books for this challenge on audio and tagged them, only to find out that a bunch got cycled out of my libraries' catalogs at the beginning of the year. :(

Oh damn, that sucks! I've now got access through 4 libraries & at this point it's more of a question who has the shortest waiting time than whether any have the books I want. Luckily I don't think I've ever noticed books I had put on my wishlist disappear.

I have three library systems and could probably get more - I need to check. Audiobooks seem harder to come by in general than e-books, probably because they're more expensive. I'm sure I can get the paper books through the library, but I really wanted to do as many on audio as possible because that's the only way I'm going to get through my list, lol!

That's awful. Like Jenn said, check to see if your library offers Hoopla, but they may not. Libraries have to pay for that service too, and it can be expensive. I'm a librarian, and my library still does not have Hoopla, unfortunately. Our digital audiobook selection is also not very good. I live in a different area from where I work, so I have access to other libraries, which means I'm able to check out more than my patrons. :/

Also, let your library know that you would like to see more digital audiobooks, if you haven't done so already. They may be constrained by their budget, so they may not be able to add a lot more, but they need to at least be aware that there's interest.

As far as I can make out, the only library in the UK that is signed up, is a London one. As I live nowhere even remotely near London, I'm guessing I could be out of luck, lol.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, most of my disposable income has gone into Audible's pockets this past year...

Nice! I'd get my parents or my brothers to give me access to their local library, but their library isn't online at all! they don't even have a computer system for their loans yet, it's still all done with a catalogue card system, lol. They live in a tiny village in the wilds of Scotland where the average ago is over 60, and Internet is still something only one house in about 50 actually has access to. I doubt they'll be much help to me! :D
