Where is it close to Jazzy? I wasn't sure if it was a fictional or real place 😊

Jazzy Lemon (jazzylemon) | 944 comments Hi Trish, Whitley Bay is very near Newcastle upon Tyne - just on the coast, and both are in Tyne and Wear, in the northeast of England. I moved to Newcastle city centre.

Graham Wilson | 29 comments I'm thinking of having a go at this - has anyone managed to make a list with just Aussie locations and Aussie Authors - I'm thinking I might try at this but would welcome ideas from others.

Regards Graham

Check everyone's lists Graham, there are quite a few already done :)

It sounds like a great spot, especially in the warmer weather.

Graham Wilson | 29 comments Thanks Brenda, the Read Around Australia Challenge is the one for me - 12 books sounds manageable and I always like to dip into new Aussie authors (nothing against the international ones but my Aussie author friends need all the help they can get!!)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments I am jigging the list: while at first I was excited about reading around the world, lockdown is giving me a travel bug. Also, my personal challenge is to read sci-fi, so I am going with locations from sci-fi; it is likely to be a bit of a treasure hunt type challenge for me.

Thanks Brenda - I missed finishing 2020 by about 100 pages. I will have to up my game this year. Also, is "West London" acceptable for "W" or a bit of a stretch?

No, that's fine - go to the thread and post that you've finished and I'll tick you off. It doesn't matter the few days - never penalise anyone for that!!

Haha... if they state West London in the book you can, but if you find a better W, that'll do too :) We're pretty flexible :)

Thank you Brenda - I have added my "finished" post to 2020 challenge

And yes, in the blurb of the book it says that the character lives in "cosmpolitan West London" :) so I will go with that (initially anyway).

Welcome Sarah and Carol, you're both linked :)

message 91: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments This morning I had a bit of an epiphany, I thought, why not combine this challenge with my personal 2021 sci-fi challenge? It will encourage me to seek out Aussie sci-fi writers (we have some great ones, but many of them are not all that well known) and will result in some really interesting locations.

It may also help reduce my travel bug, which, at the moment, is growing into it's own little Deborah shaped pandemic.

Anyhow, I know it is a bit out of left field, pretty sure it is not what our lovely moderators had in mind and it will result in some places which are not 'real' but it is my new plan. :)

It's your challenge Deborah - as long as the books fit the criteria marked at in the original post, you can read whatever you like. And lots of new AAs will also help us as well :) Go for it!!

N New Seattle Stolen Time by Danielle Rollins Read 15/1. 5★ Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Maybe because its set 50yrs in the future and Seattle is called New Seattle. Its a lot more watery in the future 🌊 Is that allowed?
