I've read 24 of 1,000. I recognized a few authors for having read other titles by them not included in the list.
I also wrote down 88 that I'm interested in reading - 15 of which I already own, including 2 that are earmarked for 2021 challenges (Wolf Totem and Men In The Sun & Other Palestinian Stories).

I also have quite a lot included in my TBRs and I own them. Many great books here that I never heard of but would like to read.
Some of the French authors I nearly missed because I did not recognize the title. And 2 big reads this year for me are on list: Proust and Master & Margarita.
My quibbles: The Kreutzer Sonata appears twice, and some authors having multiple entries listed.

The problem for this group is that a lot of the lesser-known books won't have many tags.

It'a an interesting list. It included some of my favorites.
Cutting for Stone
Like Water for Chocolate
The Housekeeper and the Professor
An Unnecessary Woman
The Garden of Evening Mists
If all the other books on the list are as good, they're worth looking at.

I did notice some authors I've read but they didn't include the titles I have read, plus a number I have on my want to read shelves.
BUT to be honest, I included one I am more than half way finished but still reading, The Bone Readers. Also, some are things I have discarded or have decided not to read after bringing them home.
And, The Whale Rider is coming to me for January from my library.

Lol, I also scored 37!
I am impressed that we have readers here with more than 50. Kudos to you all. I do own another 10 or so that I haven't read yet, so there's hope for me.

If you read 92, you ARE most certainly well read . . .!!

Interesting thing with so many of these lists. Not all, but I found many of the ones I read kind of boring (literary? classics?).

Quite a few are on my TBR already ... some of which might be used during FLy the Skies.

I was wondering the same thing. There are a lot of American lists like that too. You'll find boring classics on most of these lists, along with sentimental favorites, award winners, and maybe bestsellers. I was wondering how they compiled the list. I imagine they consulted experts all around the world, including critics and literature professors. I think it would be hard for them to compile a list of the best 10 books to represent their whole country.
My problem is that sometimes I love the books that others might call boring, and vice versa. I figure I'll use the ratings, blurbs and reviews to help me decide. So far I ruled out a book based on reviews that likened the author to Vonnegut (I'm just not a fan), and one that called the book an important historical document.

I’ve been working on the 1001 list since 2007, and in the last few years have started contributing to The Reader’s Room review of the Booker and International Booker prizes.
Along with that, I’ve vowed to read more diversely, so my number grows every day...

Yes, some of them are boring. Some of them I won't read because they are Russian so they are going to depress me (and I won't ever read Dr. Zhivago because the movie was so sad, and that was when I still was into dark novels). Some I have picked up and discarded. Plus, the list is rather subjective as I noticed it was missing some important writers or it focused too much on the past hundred years or so, which for some countries means you lose a lot of important things. Or it would give an example and I have read or would rather read a different one (I'd rather read The Saga of the Icelanders than whatever it was they mentioned, for example).

Quiz - Are you well read in world literature?
This quiz is humbling and it gave me some great ideas for books for the international challenge. And, oh my, I felt a lot of cover love. I don't think I've even heard of many of the books (I had whole pages with no hits), but I managed to score slightly higher than average.
