I still believe that the film version of Mockingjay is better than the book version in its portrayal of Katniss and her relationships with both Gale and Peeta and not only that she stuck with it the dilemmas she was facing with spirit and steel that was lacking on the page

Yes! I loved the movies too, but I think I was able to connect more with characters on page...but I agree that movie was better. But this will always be my most favourite series.

Austin George | 471 comments The Wanderer wrote: "I'm in a slump. Don't know what to read next"

It's normal. I always go through different kinds of slumps. Reading slump, movie slump, sports slump and now I am in a French language learning slump. Don't be too perturbed about being in a slump. It goes away on it's own usually. Sometimes we need a break even from things we like doing.

message 222: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1309 comments When I hit a reading slump I usually go for a reread or something really short to get out of it.

Yeah, sometimes I have those slumps too. I find reading something you know you're gonna love, an old favourite and easy read or you close your eyes and pick from your TBR pile and read that :)

That works for me too. Read a book you read before and loved. Or read something new by a favorite author. That last one is what I usually do

I decided to go back to my comfort books which is Sherlock Holmes. Reading that now

Some people on here are freer than some others and some are really fast readers, so I would say it's pointless to compare with anyone.. I was also able to read many books last year but not this year because I have many other important priorities..so I didn't force myself to read, so don't get overwhelmed, it's all ok if you just read one book per week or even month 😄

Yeah I saw people reading 100+ books a year! I can definitely not read that much even with free time!

How are you picking which book to read if your reading time is reduced this year?

Yeah, no worries! I read 100 books in 2021 I think but I reduced my Target to 50 this year.

So, generally I pick books according to my mood and interest. But if I have some important things to do, then I pick a light book, generally a romance , which I can read whenever I want without getting disturbed with my studies and work. Fantasies and mysteries are a little heavy on details, so I pick them up only when I have free time to read them.
