Ashley | 1 comments I’m looking for recommendations on books that are well-written and have interesting characters but are not too descriptive of violence. I really like Tana French. Find Louise Penney’s Gamache charming. Enjoy Lisa Gardner’s DD Warren. But, Gardner’s stuff, for example, is too gory for me. Have read other posts on this forum recommending Amanda Kyle Williams’ The Stranger You Seek as not gory, but boy is that off the mark. It’s one of the most violent books I’ve tried to read. Far too much detail about the murders. Just looking for exciting thrillers that aren’t too horrifyingly horrific. Thanks.

Raymond Parish | 15 comments Not sure if I'm permitted recommend my book Overnight Delivery: A Hank Anderson Thriller on Amazon. Engaging characters, suspense, humor, and crime, without graphic violence.

Icewineanne | 349 comments Ashley, I think you’d enjoy Faith Martin’s books. She writes several different series but I recommend her DI Hillary Greene books.
Murder on the Oxford Canal (DI Hillary Greene, #1) by Faith Martin Murder on the Oxford Canal is the first book in the series.
I find them gripping without being overly graphic.
Happy reading!

Elizabeth Hill (wickedwriteruk) Hi Ashley

I could recommend my own ((wink)) but The Trail series by AA Abbott is also good. Set in the UK they're on KU.

Have a good Christmas

Jan C (woeisme) | 39199 comments I haven't gotten back to them lately but I didn't think Victoria Houston's Loon Lake series was too violent. Takes place in a town on a lake in Wisconsin, driving distance to Chicago.

Randall Davis Not sure if you want recent stuff or not, but there's not much violence in Agatha Christie or Ellery Queen if you can find them on Kindle.
