For cases in the next game, do we want to go with the same strategy we used this time and pick the two cases with the lowest point values, so 10 and 22? That would guarantee we at least wouldn't be choosing the 1 or 2.

Well, if you're going by that logic you'd use both the first month and second month. So 4, 12, 10, 22. Those four cases had 1 and 2 in them previously.
