I will lead a discussion of my recently published how-to book for teachers. It is a memoir of the ways I managed to amp up my students' motivation by helping them design projects that improve the world. It is appropriate for educators at all levels, as well as home-schooling parents and school administrators. I wrote it in an accessible style, and based it on my experience as both a neuroscientist and teacher.

Thank you, Steve. I've never started a book discussion on Goodreads. Where do I find instructions? I confess, I haven't been very involved. Just busy writing my next book. Thanks for your help. Janet
Janet, I suggest you join an already active book club here that interests you and get ideas from that on how to run yours. I have run one that met in person (The Group Mind, at Vromans Bookstore in Pasadena in the 90s) but not on GoodReads until this one. We will see how it goes! The great thing about an online book club is that we don't all have to be in the same place at the same time to have an interesting and productive conversation about the book.
Thanks, Steve. I'll look into it. It's a question of how much time to spend discussing vs getting back to my writing schedule. I'm not out to get rich or famous in selling my books. I believe my teacher-mentor book can truly help educators and students find JOY in learning. I want it in the hands of those who will find it instructional, inspiring, and motivational as well as affirming. But I need to get my next book done about my student who literally saw the world upside down. My hope is that it will bring great comfort and stamina to parents of children who are marginalized for seeming special education diagnoses but who are in reality highly intelligent though misunderstood.
