Awesome!

Christopher | 981 comments Books I am considering reading, probably starting mid-June, if any of these sound good for a BR, lmk, maybe could organize one:

Iron Widow
Road Out of Winter
Dead Space
Shards of Earth
Tell Me an Ending
Hard to Be a God

message 503: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 1280 comments My lord, where are you finding all these? They ALL sound good. I can not keep up! {weeping, fetal position}

I missed Hard to Be a God when my IRL group read it, so that is on my need to read list.

message 504: by Christopher (new)

Christopher | 981 comments Reasons for these:
Iron Widow & Shards - 2021 BSFA winners
Dead Space & Road out of Winter - recent PDK winners
Tell Me an ending - NYT recommended
Hard to be a God - coworker recommended

And I happen to have them all out from the library!

Ha- I won't - let's go with July 25. I'll message you a heads up a week in advance if you need to track down a copy? I have a current stack of library reads I need to get through first.

Looking forward to this one!

For the buddy read master schedule - Flesh and Spirit - July 25

I've been meaning to read The Silmarillion for quite a long time. Would love to join the Buddy Read (if it's not too late) and would be grateful for some pointers on how it's done, as it's my first one.

Sure, you're very welcome to join us! You can join a buddy read any time.

I've just created a thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

You just read the book and post in the thread if you have thoughts, if you want to react to something someone said or if you want to say anything, really. :) That's it, you've joined the buddy read.

I picked July 9 because it's a little after the BotMs started. If that doesn't suit somebody who wants to join, feel free to suggest another start date in July.

I will probably be rather slow on this one myself, so it will run for some time.

I am going to start reading Iron Widow in probably a week.. I know that is not mid-June since it's almost July. But if you still want to set one up, I'll be participating.

Christopher | 981 comments Hi Lennon (cool name, big fan of the Beatles) I'm way behind and still working on my buddy read of Child of the Prophecy so I don't want to commit to another buddy read right now. If you start a read for Iron Widow I'll try to chime in whenever I get to reading it (but I keep adding to my TBR so not sure when exactly that would be).

Cool! I currently have 5 other books in my possession that I can read before Iron Widow. It will probably take me 2 weeks to get through all the other ones. I might be able to renew Iron Widow, but it is a popular book at the current moment so there's a chance I may not be able to do that.
Either way, just let me know and if I still have the book I'll be looking forward to it. :)

Gunpowder moon looks interesting but I'm so behind on reading this month. :(

I had planned on rekindling interest in reading A Door Into Ocean but I think I'm going to hold off until the end of the year for that now so I can read the ten other books I kinda promised I'd read.

I have the Gunpowder Moon ebook since a long time ago but wasn't sure if I'd ever read it....but if there's a BR I could join :D

Since Ryan and I are booked this month, maybe we could do August?

Mareike | 1457 comments Is anyone interested in a BR of The Future of Another Timeline by Annalee Newitz in the fall? I’m meaning to read it for the TBR Clean-Up Challenge and it sounds like a book that would be fun to read and talk about with others.
(If not, I’ll just read through the BR discussion from 2020 as I progress.)
