Is there any interest to read The Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler sometime next month?

Yes 🤩📚

Hmm, I'm travelling next month so it's a little hard to predict brain availability. But the 2nd half of the month is probably more likely to have reading space than the 1st half. Thanks!

I'd love to join as well, I'm fine with anything this month or the next :)

And glad to have you with us, Tesseract :)

Or maybe just resurrect the existing one? It's on the shelf, right?

Thanks again for your help!

I'm in! I just placed a hold on The Giver at my public library.
Sorry, I have got to get my sh--elf together. I now propose Giver starting around Dec 23? Does that work? Give folks the week between Old Nick and Auld Lang Syne for reading?
Looks like I'll also be reading The Lost Cause with another friend if anyone else wants in!

Dystopian fiction over Christmas? I'm in!
I don't think I can squeeze in another book before the end of the year though. (Still have The Calculating Stars singing to me from my bedside table.)

The Lost Cause seems interesting, will try to join too.

Anyone interested in buddy reading the first one with me? They are long so looking to take my time with these. Time frame is open- maybe late winter early spring?

Although the page count of the series is intimidating, I'm interested. The first book has been sitting on my TBR shelf begging for me to read it and I've heard good things about the series too.

Cool! Hopefully we can gather a couple more takers. I didn’t want to propose the whole series because I figured that was intimidating, but maybe we can see how we feel after each book?
Do you have a specific time frame in mind?

Perfect! I was thinking mid-late February also. Does that work for you Rose?

Works for me!

We should probably use the existing threads, not start a separate BR one. First Impressions:

Awesome! I’m going to arbitrarily pick a date of Feb 19th so Anna and Mods can add it to the schedule. I’ll try and remember to check in a couple weeks prior to see how we all feel about that date.
Really looking forward to this one!

That sounds good! If we decide to read any of the next books we can start a series thread.

If you're seriously planning to read the series, then we might as well start a series thread for it, so you can stay in one thread throughout and discuss properly with spoiler tags. I can start it with mod and add all the links, etc.

I've heard great things about Ken Liu but have not read any of his books. I'd like to give the series a go as a buddy read also.

I’ve been debating how to respond to this all day. 😂 looks like we have a good number of buddies interested in Book One at a minimum, some tentative interest in later books.
I am committing to the series at least, and it seems like others might want to join for later books,, so I’m going to say yes to the series thread.

let me know when would be the best time to BR then. maybe if we want more folks then we could wait until the publication date - some might miss the netgalley deadline.
