message 752: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1 comments I would love to join the buddy read of the Dandelion Dynasty starting with the first book on 19th February

message 753: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3180 comments Yes please do join us! The more the merrier!

I will try to remind everyone about one week prior to give people time to grab it from the library, etc.

message 754: by Kaa (new)

Kaa | 1544 comments If the timing works out, I would love to join a BR for Sheine Lende - I also picked it up off of Netgalley. I will mostly likely read it in Jan/Feb/early March.

I will also try to join the Dandelion Dynasty BR - I own the first two books already.

message 755: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments I'll add Sheine Lende to the list when there's a tentative month!

message 756: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3680 comments I’ve got Scheine Lende as well. Wouldn’t
Mind waiting until March to read it.

message 757: by Feliciana (new)

Feliciana (sswstar) | 118 comments I just finished reading Scheine Lende this morning, so I’ll probably join in the discussion whenever the date is decided.

message 758: by Tamara (new)

Tamara | 271 comments Would anyone like to read Braking Day along with me?

I voted for it in the poll for next month's group book, but it came in second - and it's been in a poll twice. I'm not extremely excited to read it, but I am interested, and curious. I don't read much sci-fi - but do like watching it. It didn't use to be in our library, but now is, so I'd like to take advantage of that. Not fussed about when.

message 759: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellehartline) | 3180 comments Unfortunately my library doesn't have this. They're bookish slackers!

SFFBC (BR) (sffbcbr) | 1 comments edit: No longer updated after 2024! The account won't be deleted, so old buddy reads will still be available through this account.

Sarah | 3180 comments Just wanted to drop a 2 week reminder (Feb 19 start) in the chat for the Dandelion Dynasty buddy read starting with The Grace of Kings in case anyone needs time to track down the book!

Here is the thread for anyone who needs it: Dandelion Dynasty Buddy Read Master Thread

message 764: by Aga (new)

Aga | 1066 comments Anyone interested in reading Firewalkers sometime in February or March? It’s 184 pages long novella.

I'm interested! I know I won't get to it until March though.

My copy of The Grace of Kings should be arriving any day. :-)
Also Sarah, it doesn't look like the link to the BR is working.

March is good. I’m still reading Amina al-Sirafi and Jade City is waiting for me.

a.g.e. montagner (agem) | 660 comments Despite my slowness, or perhaps because of it, this is probably a good time to recruit for a buddy read of The Stone Sky, which is Book 3 in the Broken Earth series.

Time limit is the Virtual Book Club towards the end of February 2024 (probably February 25 or March 3, as VBCs tend to be on Sundays).

message 770: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellehartline) | 3180 comments That BR friend is a great idea, mods!

message 774: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments The thread for Stone Sky is here, and there are links to all other books/threads in the series, too:

sounds good to me as it's on my TBR pile

message 777: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 1404 comments I’m interested in Firewallets I think.
lol - Firewalkers 😊

message 778: by Jerry (new)

Jerry | 2 comments Interested - wallets too ;)

message 779: by Aga (new)

Aga | 1066 comments Yey! Any preferences about when we start? Is beginning of March okay, or rather the second half of the month?

message 780: by CBRetriever (new)

CBRetriever | 6128 comments no preference here

message 781: by Cheryl L (new)

Cheryl L | 418 comments I'm flexible!

message 782: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 1280 comments What's the pitch for Firewallets Firewalkers? Adrian Tchaikovsky, check. He's got lots of books though, why this one?
:-)

message 783: by Aga (new)

Aga | 1066 comments I voted for this book in SF poll for February. It lost to the competition but I want to read it anyway. There were more people voting for Firewalkers, so I thought about a BR.

A lot of my friends recommend Tchaikovsky’s novellas and I thought it might be a good start. Sounds interesting and it’s a part of a series containing three standalone novellas set in different worlds.

message 784: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments I hadn't noticed that these three novellas are in a series together! I've read Ogres, which was very good!

message 785: by Aga (new)

Aga | 1066 comments About the start date, is the 4th of March ok?

message 786: by Aga (new)

Aga | 1066 comments Anna wrote: "I hadn't noticed that these three novellas are in a series together! I've read Ogres, which was very good!"

I have Ogres on my TBR list too :)

message 787: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments You don't have to, but if you want to start the BR thread already, I can add it to both the BR list and the BR account review, so it will (hopefully) be easy to find, and people will have time to turn notifications on for the thread. This has always been an option, but with the BR account, after GR fixes the "new friends don't show up in the friends & following section on book page" bug, it'll be even easier to find the BR thread through the book page. Hopefully :D

message 788: by Mareike (new)

Mareike | 1457 comments Anthony and I have been talking about a BR for Harrow the Ninth, with Feb 21st as possible start date.
Would anyone else like to join us?

message 789: by CBRetriever (new)

CBRetriever | 6128 comments Aga wrote: "About the start date, is the 4th of March ok?"

it's good for me

message 790: by DivaDiane (new)

message 791: by Mareike (new)

Olga Yolgina | 589 comments Mareike wrote: "Anthony and I have been talking about a BR for Harrow the Ninth, with Feb 21st as possible start date.

I would like to join, but I was going to reread Gideon before trying Harrow. I feel like I missed a lot in the audiobook the first time round and because of that wasn't impressed by the book in general.

message 793: by Olga (new)

Olga Yolgina | 589 comments TSG Readalong for The Stone Sky, just in case anyone wants to discuss it over yonder.

message 794: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3680 comments Ok, maybe it’s time to bite the bullet. If I can finish Gideon by or near the 21st, I’ll join you on Harrow!

message 795: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments The Locked Tomb (Gideon/Harrow) thread is here:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

(Series BRs are not added to the BR list, they're on the series list, that's why I'm posting links for this and Broken Earth.)

message 796: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Connell (sarahconnell) | 315 comments I’ll be lurking on Harrow ! Finished it last month.

I’m about 30% into stone sky and loving it but I don’t have story graph…I don’t think I could keep up with 2!

message 797: by Mareike (new)

Mareike | 1457 comments Thank you, Anna!

It's been a while since I participated in a BR, so I forgot there's two separate list.

I am! I'm about 1/4 through now. I needed a little fantasy before tackling Word for World.

I totally agree, Olga! I listened to the audiobook, which was excellent, but I do feel like I missed quite a lot of the intricacies. It was really hard to keep track of all of the characters. Gideon is on my shelf, waiting to be read, but I don't think I can get to her this month. And I definitely want to finish the series!
