message 102: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1231 comments Not to scare anyone off because I did enjoy most of it but one of the worst cliffhangers I have read. Better have book 2 queued up, or not if you don't like it :)

message 103: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments Thanks, I'm going to wait until the finale is out :)

message 104: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1231 comments Plus I have not read book 2. That might not have a cliffhanger

I'm accumulating other buddy reads, so I'll hold off on this for now.

Cool, I will keep it in my BR wishlist.

ETA: Maybe sometime in mid May/June.

Will do! I have high expectation. Sad that it did not win the poll.

so many books to read, my friend!

message 110: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2796 comments And usually our Amazon mole is on point! Been waiting for a Kindle discount.

2 BR's to be added please!

The Salvage Crew (A8) starting March 5

The Deep starting basically now I think?

message 112: by Anna (last edited Feb 17, 2021 12:25PM) (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments Salvage has been on the list for days! :P I'll dig up the Deep thread.

Deep BR is here, I'll add it to the list if I get a date, but if you're reading it immediately, maybe no need to add it at all? Let me know! :)

message 113: by Allison, Fairy Mod-mother (new)

Allison Hurd | 14225 comments Mod
Sorry, I should have known! I didn't even check.

I'll leave the Deep for the Deep readers to determine if they want it on the list. Really I'm posting here to invite others interested in BR to join in on these!

message 114: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 262 comments Ooh, I picked up The Deep a while back and will hopefully be able to join in by this weekend.

message 115: by Mareike (new)

Mareike | 1457 comments Becky, Diane, and myself are thinking of a BR for The Deep by Rivers Solomon. We're currently thinking of starting either Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. Would anyone else like to join?

message 116: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 1280 comments Yes indeed! I am reading the author's An Unkindness of Ghosts right now.

message 117: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) | 1894 comments Awesome, I think for The Deep we now have Mareike, myself, DivaDiane, Nicol, Lori, Amanda and Bonnie. Did I miss anyone?

message 118: by Mareike (new)

Mareike | 1457 comments Very cool! Do we want to pick a definite start date or do we say we start now and people join in as they are able to?

message 119: by Mareike (new)

Mareike | 1457 comments Also, thanks for posting about it, Allison!

message 120: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments Suggested reading schedule for April-June rereads:
Option A

April 15th:
The Anubis Gates (387 pgs)
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (427 pgs)

May 15th:
Parable of the Sower (345 pgs)
The Ocean at the End of the Lane (178 pgs)

June 15th:
The Day of the Triffids (228 pgs)
Jade City (498 pgs)

message 121: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3679 comments If no one else objects, can we switch one of April’s with one of May’s? There three books I want to read, and 2 of them are in May and none in April...

message 122: by Anna (last edited Feb 25, 2021 06:49AM) (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments Diane, which three are you planning to read?

message 123: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments Option B

April 15th:
Parable of the Sower (345 pgs)
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms (427 pgs)

May 15th:
The Anubis Gates (387 pgs)
The Ocean at the End of the Lane (178 pgs)

June 15th:
The Day of the Triffids (228 pgs)
Jade City (498 pgs)

message 124: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3679 comments It doesn’t really matter to me which two you swap from April and May. But I’m planning to read The Parable of the Sower, the Ocean and the Day of the Triffids.

message 125: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments Thanks Diane, that helps if someone else requests a swap, so I don't accidentally lump two of yours together again!

message 126: by Melanie, the neutral party (new)

Melanie | 1609 comments Mod
Looks good to me. Anubis Gate makes the cut!! thanks.

message 127: by Bobby (new)

Bobby | 869 comments Since Rivers of London didn't make it I only have one I plan to read so anything works for me.

message 128: by Meredith (new)

Meredith | 1780 comments I'm only reading Parable so anything is fine. (I voted for Anubis Gate, but turns out my library doesn't have it)

message 129: by Silvana (last edited Feb 25, 2021 09:57PM) (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2796 comments I want to reread Jade City and now that I already checked my schedule, May would be better.

Aga | 1066 comments Emmett wrote: "Excited to join in for The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms & The Ocean at the End of the Lane!"

Hehe, same here :)

message 132: by Banshee (new)

Banshee (bansheethecat) | 206 comments Too many books high on my TBR were selected 😂 The only one I've already read is The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and I would like to participate in all the remaining ones, but that's gonna be challenging. I will probably need to prioritise and drop something...

message 133: by E.D. (new)

E.D. Robson | 262 comments Will definitely join The Ocean at the End of the Lane although I did read it many years ago in graphic novel form.
Quite a few of the others appeal as well depending on my commitments, although I'd forgotten just how important 'The Day of the Triffids was to getting me into syfy as a teenager (centuries ago).
Read the book, seen the films and TV series. I might read it again just to see if I'm being over nostalgic.

message 134: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments It sounds like everyone is OK with option B, so we'll go with that unless someone objects before the next time I check in!

A moment ago, I ordered it through interlibrary loan.

Anyone up for a buddy read of Jo Waltons Thessaly trilogy? The first book The Just City is on the groups shelf already so I'll be continuing from book two.

It does look intriguing but it's too new for me to take a chance on. However, I'll follow the thread if you create it!

message 138: by Christopher (new)

Christopher | 981 comments I read book two of Thessaly late last year, but would definitely be up for a buddy read of book three.

Oops, they cancelled my order b/c it's so new the other library didn't want to make it available for interlibrary loan. Maybe I will buy it. Stay tuned! ^_^

message 140: by Beth (new)

Beth | 211 comments Is anyone up for a series BR of the Patternmaster Series - Wild Seed and sequels? I am planning to read the first one this month and maybe one a month after that

message 141: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 1280 comments I have it from Prime Reading too. it's still included, I just checked.
I would join. Threads for Wild Seed exist under 2012 group reads.

message 142: by Beth (new)

Beth | 211 comments I knew Wild Seed had been a group read; I will start it after I finish a couple of other books this month. I will check out the old thread, but I want to read at least the second book close to the end of March/beginning of April.

message 143: by HeyT (new)

HeyT | 506 comments I was thinking about doing a read of The Chronicles of Prydain starting sometime around May and was looking to see if anyone would want to join me. It starts with The Book of Three for those not familiar with it.

message 144: by Anna (last edited Mar 09, 2021 08:02AM) (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10434 comments I don't think we have any series threads for Butler, besides Parable of the Talents, so I'll be happy to add Patternmaster to the series list! (I'll do that after someone starts the series thread.)

message 145: by Aga (new)

Aga | 1066 comments Anyone planning to read "The Stone Sky" after "The Obelisk Gate" RR?

message 146: by Emmett (new)

Emmett (emmett13) | 154 comments Aga wrote: "Anyone planning to read "The Stone Sky" after "The Obelisk Gate" RR?"

I've already read The Obelisk Gate, but have yet to read The Stone Sky. I would join in for that!

message 147: by E.D. (new)

E.D. Robson | 262 comments I'm planning to start 'The Obelisk Gate' tomorrow and have got hold of a copy of 'The Stone Sky' so I'd also be happy to join for that one as well.

message 148: by Aga (new)

Aga | 1066 comments Great! I'll propably start "The Obelisk Gate" on Monday. We could start "The Stone Sky" March 23 for example. What do you think? Or do you need some more time to get the book?

message 149: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3679 comments I’ve got the Obelisk Gate up as my next audio, which I should be starting in the next few days. I don’t think I can’t squeeze in the Stone Sky so soon either, but don’t let me stop you!

message 150: by Aga (new)

Aga | 1066 comments Well, there is no rush :) We could start on 29th or later in April.
