So a New Year is upon us. Let us hope it is better than last. Since chat here is fairly quiet I thought an open chat for the year might be best. At least while we are still small and since we've all been a bit quiet this past year (especially since June/July-ish).

So let us talk of hopes, dreams, goals, books or anything else here!

What are some of your reading goals for 2021?
What would you like to see in this group?
If something good happened in your life, let the rest of us know so we can celebrate with you (any excuse for cheer is a good one these days).

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments My main reading goal for 2021 right now is just to read. I'm been in a bit of slump so I want to read more. lol.

More activity! I love this group and want more people to chat with! ^_^

I guess for good news I had a really nice time playing in the snow with Ruby yesterday. She got to see her friend and she was SO HAPPY! It was so cute! 😍

Yeah my reading died these past few months. Most of my normal fun activities have.

I hope we have more activity this next year. If you think of people who might want to join, please feel free to invite them over. :)

Doggie happiness is always good.

Same. :(

I haven't been talking to too many people lately. Not as much as I normally do but I'll definitely invite people if I chat more. lol.

It is! ^_^

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments I just saw your status about the beat the backlist challenge! I think I'll join. ^_^

Same, I have so much to read.... I just re-organized my shelves in April and already have more books that don't even fit...

I've actually been very good about not buying new books this year but that's because I'm too depressed to. :( It's been good for my wallet and my overflowing bookshelves but not good for my mental health. :S

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments I have no clue where I'm going to post this though. I have a blog but haven't used it for 2 years. O.o

I just made an 'announcement' here and will make a shelf for books I complete. Since they said we can use goodreads. I am just keeping everyone lowkey right now.

message 12: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Ah KK. I guess I can do that too. :)

So I just got the Sims Snowy Escape pack for christmas. So excited. they have kotatsu and take off shoes entering a home and other Japanese themed things and I am wanting to go play it! Haven't had the chance yet. Might in a few minutes.

message 14: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments It’s super fun!

I got it on or around release date and except for a glitch error they had to fix it was super fun figuring things out!

Sadly my comp did an update and either it or I screwed up and I currently can’t play sims or use my library app. :(

Oh no! I hope you can get your computer fixed soon. That sucks!

I wanted to get the pack sooner but knew I wouldn't have time to play but now work is starting to calm down, so I can. :)

message 17: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments I’ve tried a few times and have currently given up. More time for goodreads. Lol

message 18: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments It’s a game pack so that was wise. Those take a while to not only download but also to figure out everything new. ^_^

That is the catch! Read or game?? Both can rule my free time.

They also added all those skintone changes and personality changes to basegame so yes lots of updating to download.

message 21: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Sometimes you can do both with audio but it depends on the game

message 22: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Yes. ‘Proper’ is interesting. I like using the new traits.

Wish they had more house and lot options though. The new world is too small

message 23: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 2554 comments Mod
I see that... Although I like that actual Sim gamers got to build the lots on there at least.

I think that is the only other new trait. That I see. Waiting on trying that one I think. I want a feel for the game first.

And a new job!

I missed adventurous! Good with all the new skill I bet.

message 27: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments I'm curious since it's now the 1st what was everyone's favorite books of 2020?

message 31: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments Mine are probably the only Skip Beat book that came out. スキップ・ビート! 45 (Skip Beat!, #45) by Yoshiki Nakamura

Also these standalones Circe by Madeline Miller A Danger to Herself and Others by Alyssa B. Sheinmel Empress of All Seasons by Emiko Jean

The conclusion to this duology The Cerulean (The Cerulean Duology, #1) by Amy Ewing The Alcazar (The Cerulean Duology, #2) by Amy Ewing

And these three new series I started White Stag (Permafrost, #1) by Kara Barbieri Crown of Coral and Pearl (Crown of Coral and Pearl, #1) by Mara Rutherford 私がモテてどうすんだ 1 Watashi ga Motete dousunda 1 (Kiss Him, Not Me!, #1) by Junko

All of these except for Skip Beat were 4 stars. I did not find any 5 star books in 2020. O.o

A Crystal of Time (The School for Good and Evil The Camelot Years, #2) by Soman Chainani I am loving this series! Both print and audio are really good!

The Gentleman’s Guide to Getting Lucky (Montague Siblings, #1.5) by Mackenzi Lee Cracked me up

Gemina (The Illuminae Files, #2) by Amie Kaufman Obsidio (The Illuminae Files, #3) by Amie Kaufman This series impressed me.

Haunted House by Mitsukazu Mihara was a funny standalone manga.

Most other things I loved were re-reads this past year.

I re-read a lot this year. Especially after Covid was discovered in March-ish.

No worries. Join and play when you can. I am taking it lowkey for that one. Like if a book fits, great but if not, oh well. At least at first. I tend to search once a board is almost done though That last push so to speak.

What other challenges are you doing?

message 46: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 988 comments The YA one. The A-Z one here. Beat the Backlist and Pop Sugar. :)

message 47: by Jamie (new)

Ah so you wnet with that backlist challenge. That was more fun when they did teams. So I went with the other backlist one. More open which is good so I can mood read more.

There's Beat the Backlist which Novelknight hosts and has a bingo to it and then there is the Backlist Reader Challenge at Bookwyrmshoard, which is the one I am doing.
