PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Six Word Story: Stories, Memoirs, Poems and Jokes all written in only six words. is the second book of clever, quirky "stories" by Doug Weller. There's a competition you can enter, too. Fun to try making them up.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Hello Friend We Missed You won The Guardian's 2020 Not the Booker Prize competition. I liked the real Booker winner better this year - Shuggie Bain - but Richard Owain Roberts IS a good writer, and it's nice to see Wales represented.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments The List is a short story in Gregg Andrew Hurwitz's Orphan X series that stars Joey Morales. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to see her with her own series. Worth every cent.

Andrea | 2164 comments A foodie memoir I've been reading recently, The Temporary Bride: A Memoir of Love and Food in Iran, has sparked my interest in Persian food. Mouthwatering!

Andrea | 2164 comments Infinite Country by Patricia Engel is a book that I would have loved to quote from extensively to illustrate what I got out of it, but alas as an eARC I was not able to. There was a lot to like.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments The blurb sounded OK, and the start was promising, but ultimately, I was disappointed in A Dog Called Boris, the debut by British author, P. D. Innes. Might appeal to Scots or dog lovers?

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Prodigal Son, the 6th book in Gregg Andrew Hurwitz's Orphan X series, has lots of fancy tech and a huge cliff-hanger ending.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I very much enjoyed the print version of Barbara Kingsolver's Unsheltered, so I was pleased to see the library had the audio version. And the advantage of having the novel read to you by the author is that you know the pronunciation and emphasis will be exactly as she intended.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments As a neuroscientist, Lisa Genova is eminently qualified to write about memory, and I can assure you that Remember is an absolutely fascinating read. This is one of those books where you're going to annoy all the people around you by insisting on reading out bits...
