PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Another cute Story Without Words, Polar Bear Bowler: A Story Without Words by Karl Beckstrand. I can imagine little kids making up dialogue and "telling the stories" themselves.
Polar Bear Bowler A Story Without Words by Karl Beckstrand 4★ LInk to my review of Polar Bear Bowler with enough of the pictures to get the idea of the story.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments William Faulkner was a giant of American Literature (with a capital L!), and I just enjoyed his short story A Rose for Emily. It's about an elderly widow who gets more and more reclusive and peculiar.
A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner 4★ Link to my Rose for Emily review with a link to the story.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments The second instalment in the Justice Jones series by Elly Griffiths, A Girl Called Justice: The Smugglers' Secret is at least as good, if not better than, the first. I'm looking forward to what Justice (and all the other characters) will get up to in #3.
5★s for this one

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments A Summoner had a pretty free rein in 14th century England. He could decide you were guilty of something and summon you to court - unless of course you bribed him. And he never paid for anything. Who would dare charge him? In The Summoner's Sins, author Keith Moray continues his series, which is pretty gruesome.

Andrea | 2164 comments Little Brother: A Refugee's Odyssey gives an inside look at the refugee experience in West/North Africa. A quick read that packs a punch, but I suspect may have been even more powerful in the original Basque language.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments Having finished A Testament of Character, I now have to patiently wait until the next instalment in this excellent series is published. Luckily Sulari Gentill does have a few other books up her sleeve to keep fans satisfied. And I can listen to Rupert Degas reading the audio....

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments Last Days in Cleaver Square by Patrick McGrath is a powerful and beautifully written tale.
The lack of quote marks for speech loses it half a star because that really irritates me.
