Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments Sadly, I didn’t really connect with the protagonist of Australian author, Tania Blanchard‘s fourth novel, Echoes of War. I found it a bit repetitive, but it will likely appeal to readers who enjoy historical fiction.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments I loved the e-book version of the latest novel by Australian author, Fiona Higgins, An Unusual Boy, so revisiting it in audio, narrated by Melle Stewart, is a pleasure.

You're so right Patty. I'm in the process of reading the final books for a few challenges and some of them are great but probably wouldn't have been read otherwise.

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments I just finished/gave up on Salt: A World History a microhistory that I had been really looking forward to, by an author I have previously enjoyed.

Sadly, I did not enjoy it, 2* and DNF shelf :(

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments I enjoyed Aussie investigative journo John Bailey's second outing so much, State of Fear, that I'm now reading the third one! Tim Ayliffe is an excellent writer whose characters are hunting terrorists - right now!

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments There should be lots of books like this for kids (and their grown-ups). It's beautiful, it's informative, it's scary, and it's funny! What's not to like about Nenek Tata and the Mangrove Menace (set in Sabah, Malaysia) by Judith Vun Price

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments It's always such a pleasure to listen to any of Sulari Gentill's Rowland Sinclair series when narrated by Rupert Degas, and his wonderful rendition of A Testament of Character is no exception. But now that I've reached the end of that line, I can only hope that Sulari and Pantera Press and Poisoned Pen Press have more of this brilliant series in the pipeline.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments For those who enjoy a wartime romance with a bit of intrigue, Suzanne Fortin's second dual-timeline historical fiction novel, All That We Have Lost is sweet and moving.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments This book is unique. Not kind of different - unique. Naoki Higashida wrote a memoir The Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism, which is not only informative but entertaining! For a kid who couldn't "communicate", he sure learned well, and he has a good sense of humour, too.
