Jenny | 2346 comments Melindam, I just picked up Spinning Silver on Audible. I can't remember who recommended that one to me, but I am looking forward to it.
The other author your color cover list is reminding me of is my lack of Pratchett reading. I read a couple years ago, and one sort fo recently. Perhaps I should just start at the beginning, especially since so many of them have great covers for UNO.

I want more Murderbot too. Now. Or sooner.

Jenny | 2346 comments Mikayla wrote: "are rereads allowed?"

Rereads are allowed. I think the rule is that you can use it for UNO if you read the book six months ago or longer. Someone will correct me if I am wrong here.

message 153: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 4427 comments Jenny, when I first read Terry Pratchett, many, many years ago, I also started with book 1 and 2 and they made me give him a wide berth, because I could not appreciate them.
Later I picked The Hogfather (#20) at random, and I loved it.

My favourites are from the City Watch series. I can safely recommend them as a starting point. Guards!Guards! is the 1st of these.

Diane | 957 comments Hi, my name is Diane and I am from Toronto, Canada. A friend of mine from another Challenge group talked me into trying this one. I have done many group challenges since I started tracking my books on Goodreads about 10 years ago. I read exclusively M/M Romance, but love all kinds of genres like Action, Paranormal and Mystery.

Colleen | 293 comments Way to kick off 2021 with some Uno! This is a great and well-run challenge that all can participate in and feel welcome. This is my fourth year, and certainly not my last. Thanks for keeping up this amazing tradition.

📕 Book you can't wait to read in 2021- The House in the Cerulean Sea, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine and Diesel Heart: An Autobiography
📕 Your recommendation for book with the best yellow, red, blue, or green cover - Dear America Notes of an Undocumented Citizen by Jose Antonio Vargas The Paris Architect by Charles Belfoure The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Allison | 269 comments Hi everyone! I'm Allison and this is my 5th time playing Uno. My favourite genres are thrillers and historical fiction, but I'll go for almost anything.

I'm looking forward to (hopefully) driving down my TBR list this year, as well as reading some more non-fiction.

For colour covers, I would recommend:
Recursion by Blake Crouch Lawn Boy by Jonathan Evison All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr How Music Got Free The End of an Industry, the Turn of the Century, and the Patient Zero of Piracy by Stephen Richard Witt

Dear UNO Pixie,

I am seeing N/A next to my name on the spreadsheet for the 2020 team list. I had trouble with getting my ID fixed in 2020, so that may be causing a problem.

Just wanted to let you know that in 2020 I was on the Astronaut Pie team with Judith and Nanci!! The whole experience was just wonderful!!

Cheers

Robynne

Skye Blue ☆*~゚ლ(´ڡ`ლ)~*☆ (surendraskye) | 251 comments Hi,
I'm a newbee for this challenge, and I only really have 1 question so far.

The color books. Does every book have to be a specific color? Or just one each hand, or each month, or each player? Just don't understand when and how often you need a book to be color coded.

📕 Name- Skye
📕 Team Challenge experience -- newbe on this group, but very used to other challenges
📕 Have you joined UNO before? no
📕 Favourite genres- paranormal, urban fantasy and mystery almost always m/m romance no mater the genres
📕 Book you can't wait to read in 2021 Bitter Pill
📕 Your recommendation for book with the best yellow, red, blue, or green cover

Undertow (Infected #7) by Andrea Speed yellow
Bloodlines (Infected, #2) by Andrea Speed red
The Lightning-Struck Heart (Tales From Verania, #1) by T.J. Klune blue
Haven't read Bitter Pill (PsyCop, #11) by Jordan Castillo Price green yet, but the first 10 books were great. I expect it will be too.

Nope. When the hands are dealt out every month, each team will get a few color cards they have to fill out. Most of the cards do not depend on having color covers. Your team will decide how to divvy out who plays each card.

It all becomes clear very quickly once your first hand is dealt. Plus, there will be UNO veterans on your team as well, so worry not.

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Hi everyone. This will be my third UNO and I'm really looking forward to it again. I have a teetering pile of books by my bed that I've carefully avoided reading because of the cover colour or the author name. My husband thinks I'm nuts. hahaha

The trouble is we have those extra point challenges where a cover item might be important so it's hard to decide what to read in the next couple of weeks before Feb1st.

My husband might be right, come to think of it ......

message 171: by Glen (new)

Glen | 19 comments 📕 Name HI folks, I am Glen from Vancouver, Canada
📕 Team Challenge Experience: None in this group, I tried one in another group last fall, but it less of a game and more who could read the most books. I get through 2 or 3 month, so I wasn't really very helpful for my team.
📕 Have you joined UNO before? No, this would be my first time.
📕 Favourite genres: General fiction, Science Fiction, Fantasy, History
📕 Book you can't wait to read in 2021: Everything on my "Want to Read" is currently on a shelf waiting for me to pick it up. With the exception of a few classics that I got on sale as well as some of the non-fiction, I am eager to one degree or another to read all of them.
📕 Your recommendation for book with the best yellow, red, blue, or green cover

I haven't thought about one specific book I'm dying to read this year, but I'm very excited to read more of the books I have on my to-read list.

That's it! Thank you guys, I hope we can read a lot and have fun!

I haven't checked out the other team names yet so I don't know if these are on there. But my favorite 80's movie are the Lost Boys and Goonies. I noticed Young Guns was on Amazon Prime (via IMBD app) the other day. I loved that one too.

I was born in 1970 so the 80's were my entire teenage years.

Robynne Lozier There are at least 25 teams and thus 25 movie titles. Am pretty sure I have seen 21 of these movies - some of them more than once (looking at you Top Gun LOL). I was a teenager and young adult in the 80s - mid teens to mid 20s...

The 80s was a GREAT Decade for me!!

I also find it interesting that one of the BEST teen movies ever made in the 1980s is not on this list - Ferris Buellers Day off!!
