Hey guys, got a questionI have got 84 Charing Cross Road from the library and I didn't realise but the copy that I've got is actually 2 books in 1, so the first half is 84, Charing Cross Road and the second half is The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street
I've looked at the rules and I think it says that I should treat this as 2 books so I just wanted to double check that..
The other thing is that 84, Charing Cross Road is only 95 pages long, I have checked the word count and it comes up as 30,080 which is above the 25,000 stated.. so would this be able to count towards the challenge??

I think it does work, my only contention is that it may not work as two books. But, I'm going to check in with the Mods, to just clarify that. Thanks for asking the question, Paris! This is interesting!
Last year I had an omnibus version of the first three books in a series. I wanted to use the first one but the Mods came back and said I had to read the whole book in that situation. I found a single copy version at a secondhand bookshop instead.

So, update on this, Paris,
this will be counted as only one book if you read the 230ish page edition. because, well, it is one book even with those two books mushed in. But, its a go-ahead. Just wanted to confirm that. Do make sure you include the right edition in your completion post, so that there is no further confusion. :)

It's an odd rule, isn't it? If the books are published separately why can't we read one of them in a 'collected works' type edition? If they're only published and listed in that one 'ensemble' way it would be different. Just a thought but not an issue. Maybe it's hard to identify the individual books correctly on Goodreads shelves--I think I did find that when I read one of my omnibus books outside the UNO comp.

Yes, I was trying to find an answer and it said
'A team mate read The Beautiful-Ugly. It's a trilogy in one book. She wants to know if it should be separated into three different books or as one.
treat that like an anthology. It is just boxed sets that you separate as they are physically separate books just sold in a bundle
So I was a bit confused, but it doesn't make much of a difference to me either way! We will treat it as one book :)

To me, it looks green on my computer screen (I'm going to read it on kindle) but tineye says it's yellow.
Laura, it definitely looks green to me. Lime green. That's similar to my Evil Under the Sun book that is a strong bright yellow in reality but Tineye says is orange and the cover reproduction looks dirty orange.
A big cheer to our team captain and co captains who are doing a fantastic job filling spots and finagling the cross links on the spreadsheet. I just had a look at the updated sheet and my original Blue 9 book has filled Wild 4's and a draw 2. Brilliant. I thought it would be filling just one slot!

Haha, Elisabeth! That is why I love this challenge so much. It is absolutely fun (especially for a spreadsheet lover like me) to play with how the books fit and work around that.

For some reason I'm not seeing a minimum page count in the rules? What is the minimum page count that we can read to complete a book?I saw on the mini challenge that you need to read a book with a crown on the front, and I'm about to read one of the mini novellas from the "Red Queen" series. I believe it's exactly 100 pages.

Books must be more than 100 pages in length and Children's books, Graphic Novels, Manga, Cook Books, Plays and Poetry books can not be used unless by word count they can be verified as more than 25,000 words using arbookfind.com or more than 3 hours of audio using a reputable website (e.g. audible, overdrive).

Oh yes, of course. How do we discuss our ideas in secret???But we can say what books we can cover. eg the one I'm reading that's set in Aus, so we're not doubling up.
Oh absolutely! We can discuss the books here - it's just the songs and the artists and the clues for them that we don't want to discuss here.Of course, like the cards, I would recommend listing all the tasks a certain book works for, so its easier to move things around in the end just in case (Because something might fit for some other task as you read the book and we don't want to miss that). But, if there are certain tasks that you know you are certainly reading for, feel free to reserve them for yourself.
I will have something up in the meanwhile, so that it would easier for all of us to track this.
