Mini - 500+ pages ?? I know someone else has claimed this but I think I remember that the other book could be used for something else too? Was it being set in California?

1/3 of this book was also set in California, I'm not sure if it will work as this book tells the story of 3 children, equally set in 3 different places (Trossingen Germany, Pennsylivania & California), so would it count for the main setting of the book Apoorv?

Hopefully we can use it in some way!

message 668: by Paris (new)

Paris | 116 comments Morning everyone (or evening / good afternoon depending on where you are..)

I had a couple of days off work and was away from my computer so I'm just catching up on everything now - this mini seems much harder than last month!

As for the song clues - I was born in the 90's but I went through them with my mum who was a teen in the 80's, she was pretty useless haha, but we both agreed that the guesses we have got look really good

Sorry, feeling a bit useless with this mini, I'm not sure how my next few books will fit in with the mini, but I think I might find some short(ish) audiobooks to fit some of the remaining clues.

Apoorv, I know you swapped a book between clue 30 & 32, but I'm going to read Agatha Raisin and the Deadly Dance, to fill up the Dance clue, so we could swap the other back to Air?

Going to have a look at the other clues now and try and find books for a couple of them..

message 669: by Apoorv (new)

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 839 comments Okay, I so added your name, Paris, to the "dance" book and swapped back Vanessa's book to "air".

Also, swapped Elisabeth's book to the one set in California, to get the 500+ clue covered.

I don't think the ring on "Heartburn" is diamond-y enough to work for that task, unfortunately. But we will find something.

Great job, everyone, so far! :D

message 670: by Apoorv (last edited Mar 16, 2021 07:43AM) (new)

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 839 comments Also, if anyone is finding it difficult to get books for specific tasks, we still have a few colored books to be completed, so we can search for those as well to account for that. Yellow seems to be the pesky kid this month!

message 671: by Laura (last edited Mar 16, 2021 09:16AM) (new)

Laura Would Ballet Shoes be okay for the clue where the MC is a dancer? I'm just asking to make sure because there seem to be 3 main characters (they all dance though, I believe). I've checked and it's long enough to be allowed for the challenge even though it's a children's book.
I was looking at Flowers in the Attic first, because I know that one of the characters does ballet, but I don't know if she's the main character.

message 672: by Apoorv (last edited Mar 16, 2021 09:35AM) (new)

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 839 comments These are the tasks that still don't have any takers. So, if you are looking for what to read next, this might be a good place to start.

Feel free to add your names to these. Also, let's make sure everyone who wants to participate gets a chance to reserve some spots for themselves.
4. Read a book where the MC is involved in a criminal organisation
8. Read a book with a black leather jacket on the cover
12. Read a book where a male character is wearing his hair long/with a long-haired man on the cover
13. Read a book where a fictional character ends up in real life or where a real life character gets transported into a book
17. Read a book with a rags-to-riches plot
18. Read a book with diamond jewellery on the cover
20. Read a book with MPG Erotica
22. Read a book where the MC is a dancer
23. Read a book where a character has permed hair/gets their hair permed (extra 5 points for if you find "hair like Meg Ryan's" in the text ;)
29. Read a book where the MC falls in love with their boss(es)
30. Read a book with the word "Dance" in the title/ top shelf "Dance"
38. Read a book with the word "eclipse" in the title// an eclipse depicted on the cover
39. Read a book set in Wales / with a character from Wales
43. Read a book where the MC is an only child/a book that's #1 in a series

Also, take a look at the songs/singers, so that we can finalize the list. We have only one chance to change anything once we send our final answers, so let's try and get it bang on in the first go.

It absolutely does. MPG is Main Page Genres, so when you open a page for a particular book, the list of genres on the right hand side are genres on the main page of the book.

I haven't started the 'pink dress on the cover' book yet so am more than happy to find something for a clue we need. It would have been a slight waste anyway because it has a predominantly blue cover!

I haven't read it either but I'm pretty sure she's an orphan so presumably an only child... We can use that instead of my first in series book because I have to finish the book I'm reading before I start that one. I can look for something else we need.

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments One of my Vintage Harlequins might fit either the rags to riches plot or falling in love with the boss. From the blurb and a quick skim through it looks like it's a gold digging girl on the make but she gets the rich guy in the end. The main character is the one in love with her boss (the rich guy) but ends up with someone else. No Nice Girl No Nice Girl by Perry Lindsay

The reviews seem to lean it towards rags to riches.
Worth a shot do you think? It's only 183 pages so very quick and will fill a regular March spot. And it has one one of those hilarious covers.
