Laura Apoorv, one of my books is wrong.
The Name of the Wind
It's used for a blue card, but it's not a blue cover.
I don't know how this happened, I definitely didn't mark it as a blue book in the spreadsheet.
One of the other editions does have a partly blue cover but not the one I read.
I read this one:
The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss

See! My smartness! Told ya! :P
Thanks for catching that. Corrected.

message 853: by Laura (new)

Laura I don't want to be annoying but I feel like my last message might've gone unnoticed because it was the first one on a new page and it's a pretty big mistake - I'd hate for us to lose points because of it!

message 854: by Apoorv (new)

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 839 comments Oh, thank you, for both catching that and pointing your message out. It did slip my eye because of the new page.

Great catch. I think it was the edition difference for the book because the other edition for The Name of the Wind works for Blue. Anyway, I did move stuff around to your own other book, Ballet Shoes. So, we should be good!

Thank you again, Laura! :)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Yikes! Aren't we only allowed to duplicate a colour card once? I just refreshed myself on what a Wild Draw 4 is.

We have the Blue 9 duplicated a few more times than that.

If I'm right and we need other colour cards I can probably finish the Green 9 I'm on by the deadline. Otherwise it'll be good for April.

message 856: by Apoorv (last edited Mar 31, 2021 06:51PM) (new)

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 839 comments Phew! Elisabeth, YOU ARE A SAVIOUR!!
Not going to lie, I had completely forgotten about that rule.
THANK YOU for catching that.

Fixed it and we should be good (hopefully I haven't done any more boo-boos, ugh!)

THANK YOU SO MUCH! :D

Also, thank you to everyone of you who diligently put in all the relevant information for each book you read in the spreadsheet. This is literally why we need that. The rearranging becomes a much smoother task in situations like these. THANK YOU ALL!

message 857: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments I didn't even remember what that Wild 4 card was! I was being impressed by how far my original Blue 9 stretched. hahahaha

So glad you a) saw my post and b) were able to do your magic shuffling. Can't beat teamwork.

message 858: by Laura (last edited Apr 01, 2021 12:29AM) (new)

Laura Wow Elisabeth how great that you caught that! I didn't even think to check the actual cards, just my own books!

I'm about halfway through Pachinko right now so it'll probably be finished this weekend. Maybe today, but if I don't it'll be for the weekend because tomorrow is super busy with parent-teacher talks and calls to students to discuss their report cards. All online, so super fun... :D
I'll be able to read a lot in the next two weeks though because of Easter vacation! So yay :)

Laura Tina ❣ wrote: "Does anyone have any Easter plans this weekend?"

We aren't religious so we don't generally do anything for Easter. Sometimes my parents-in-law invite us for brunch but it's really more of an excuse to get the family together.
But we're still not allowed to meet up with people inside here in Belgium, we can only meet in groups of max. 4 adults outside. They actually even just added some measures against covid (again) as the numbers are rising (again), so we're not doing anything this year.
Honestly I don't really mind about the Easter part of it but I would really like to have dinner at my parents' or something again soon. Or play board games with other people than my boyfriend - we're pretty evenly matched but still :D

I only checked that because my blue book was the original one that was duplicated and there was only the one blue cover card. I only looked at mine too.

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Easter is quiet for us. The weather is usually perfect at this time of year here--warm, still, clear days, chilly autumn feeling nights and leaves starting to change.

We usually go on long walks or have a family barbecue but my foot is sore atm (which is why I've been reading so much) so we're at home.

My husband had his Covid shot the other day but I'm in the next age group to come up. Our restrictions are minimal here now. There's been a short lockdown in Brisbane to jump on a small pocket of cases but that's under control now it seems. The only cases are in quarantined returning travelers and sometimes there's a breach.

We use a check in for contact tracing and distancing is still mandatory for larger gatherings but it's barely noticeable in day to day life.

Paris | 116 comments I work in rail construction, we currently have a 10 day blockade at one of the main train stations in London, which means we are doing work 24/7 throughout, so lots of different shifts going on. We have been working on the planning of this for about a year now so it's very busy!

I'm tucked away in a site office on one of the platforms, away from all the action, but I have to get updates from the teams and monitor the schedule of works as things happen live, to hopefully keep us on track.

It's 3am now and I think I'm going to treat myself to some cake to get through the last 2 hours!!

Elisabeth, did you happen to read another version of this? The one that you have linked most likely won't qualify as a green cover, unfortunately. :=(

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 839 comments Yeah, I got a 21.6%!

If we don't uncheck the "exclude background" button at the bottom, the result comes up to 54.3%, but we should probably uncheck that since we are looking at the entire cover without any exclusions.

Laura Paris, it sounds like you definitely deserve that cake!

Elisabeth I have to say I'm a little jealous of you in Australia going about life in a nearly normal way. I was just happy that I got my hair cut a few weeks ago before the hairdressers had to close again after having been open for only three or four weeks. Restaurants have been closed since... October? maybe even earlier. I just hope it will all go back to sort-of-normal fairly soon here as well.

Apoorv about the tineye thing; the background button is sort of unclear to me. Like if I leave it checked when looking at this cover:
Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro
For one of the images it says that there is no red because it "excludes" all the red background. But then if I used another cover picture it was okay. So it sort of depends I think.

I know, I'm sorry. I was talking about this the other day with friends and we all feel bad when we tell friends o'seas how we're doing here ... it sounds as if we're boasting but that's just how it is. Some sectors are still doing it really hard financially though. People in the arts and tourist based industries are struggling.

In Australia, most states were okay last year. Melbourne, Victoria was in lockdown for at least 6 months last year which was really hard on everyone. We're still facing hardships here but we're slowly recovering. It's definitely a team effort with everyone doing what they can to reduce the spread and risk. I think another fact to consider is that Australia's population is spread out in a big country. There's not a lot of us compared to UK or US and we aren't like European countries where there's a lot in a smaller area...

Is your family more a Christmas family than Easter? I like that you appreciate the weather! I find it a hit and miss with Easter in Melbourne but the weather has actually been good this weekend. BBQ is standard and delicious and I love that you can go on long walks with the family. The family event that I've been to, there's hardly ever a suggestion to go for a walk.

I wish your foot a speedy recovery Elisabeth! :P

But I am happy with Australia's recovery. I think having the harsh lockdowns certainly help with preventing transmission of cases.

Laura,
Exactly, so that button should always be "unchecked", so that TinEye covers the entire cover, without any exclusions. So, do keep an eye out on that check box, and uncheck it each time to get the best results. (Well, best is sometimes very weird when it comes to TinEye. :P)
