Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments I can borrow this ebook from my library to knock over the hot pink cover if necessary Ten Things My Cat Hates About You Ten Things My Cat Hates About You by Lottie Lucas but I think Laura has that covered with Matilda, doesn't she?

Legwarmers seems harder than hot pink!

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Does this count as a fabulous dress? Tempting Mr. Townsend (Dashing Widows, #2) by Anna Campbell

I'd rather read this than the pink cat one.

message 1053: by Laura (new)

Laura I've got the pink cover covered ;)
It's actually finished already and I'll do my completion post later today.
I think that dress is quite fabulous!

Laura I'm going to start reading The Coldest Girl in Coldtown today which, as I understand it, is about vampires or at least has vampires in it.
The book Into the Wild also has the word leg warmer in it by the way.

Laura, I found an entire book on vampire's in one of Vicki's book which she didn't post. So, if are not too inclined on the vampire book, we'd be fine.

message 1057: by Laura (new)

Laura Too late Apoorv I already read it :D it was a lazy day. But no worries, we can use it for something else. It was on my TBR for this year anyway!

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 839 comments Alrighty, so I took the liberty to go through all our shelves, not just the UNO ones, but "read" shelves as well (sorry for snooping). And I found a whole bunch of books that were read but either not entered in the spreadsheet or added to the UNO shelves.

The good thing is that this covered a lot of our letters and tasks. So, we are actually doing much much better in completing this whole thing.

Now, that leaves us with these tasks as unclaimed ones.
15*: read a book with "leg warmers" in the text or on the cover
29*: read a book with 401-450 pages
B14*: read a book with a character who is a werewolf
B19*: read a book with a character who goes out dancing or clubbing
B21*: read a book with a character who has to get up early

Now, if any of your read books that have not been captured for something, fit any of these tasks, drop in a word here, so that we don't go searching for something that is already covered.

We are doing great! You guys are just super duper!

EDIT: Also keep an eye out for any L's and U's in your books.

You know what, that's actually great,
It is 419 page book, fits one of open tasks seamlessly! :)

EDIT: After seeing your completion post, I better use it for the clubbing task, seems a little tougher than the page number one.

Perfect :)
Also it's super freaky when I'm doing stuff in the team spreadsheet and I suddenly see things being erased because you are working in it - my first reaction is always panic because I think I did something wrong :D

I'm currently looking at possible werewolf books. I think I might be able to cover it.
The leg warmer task seems to be the most difficult. If need be I'll read Death, Taxes, and Hot-Pink Leg Warmers if I can find it. But I don't really want to :D

EDIT: I can cover the werewolf task - found a 128 page Stephen King book about werewolves so that's great.
On the other hand I cannot find the leg warmer book so someone else will have to cover that one.

I can do the James Patterson book, I just need to get it. Ugh!

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments My City of Bones book was 409 pages but was used for 'radio'.
Also radio was in The Wolf Hour which was used for headband. All the juggling does my head in! So glad Apoorv is in charge!

A lot of the police /crime books have radio in them. The one I'm on now may and I do have another which could as well. Also might find someone listening to a radio in Agatha Christie.

message 1065: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Aha! Apoorv, the book I'm reading, A Merciful Truth, has 'radio' in it on page 101. 'His radio crackled and Lucas told him there was a domestic disturbance...'

You can swap that with City of Bones and use C of B for the 400-450 pages!

Laura Is that the right use of radio though? Since it's supposed to be in the same like as walkman? I feel like that's sort of the same as me wanting to use Spandex when in was a character's name instead of the item.

message 1068: by Elisabeth (last edited Apr 25, 2021 10:32PM) (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments It's the same use as the one in City of Bones. Police radio. It broadcasts which is what radios do. That's me pretending to be scientific and technical hahaha but it does say 'or radio in the text'.

But it's all good because I just got to a bit where a kid gets into the heroine's car --- "Kaylie immediately switched on the radio as Mercy started the vehicle."

No seriously though I'll try to read the werewolf book today or tomorrow. If nobody else manages I can read Into the Wild which has the word leg warmer in it. It's not a very long book.

I just added B21*: read a book with a character who has to get up early to the SS but not sure if I did it right...no points added up, so it still says 0 and I noticed the same with my Glass Houses book. Do I need to do something? I know I need to add my Digging In as well as other books. I'm so sorry (again) that my life has been SO crazy! I spent yesterday catching up on challenges and today I'll catch up on this one.

Laura Vicki, it's Along Came A Spider (first of the Alex cross series).
L and U is the same as for the other UNO tasks so title, author, character or place.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 510 comments So where are the L's and U's used? I haven't seen those on the SS. Sorry, I've been so out of the loop lately. If we have U's or L's where would we place them?

Apoorv, I can read Along Came a Spider since I have it. I read it 3 years ago, so I can do a re-read if you want. Just let me know and I can read it tomorrow.

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 839 comments Update

WE FINISHED ALL OUR HANDS!! YAAAAYYY! :D

The only thing left is the Mini Challenge. And here is what:

15*: read a book with "leg warmers" in the text or on the cover
29*: read a book with 401-450 pages: Elisabeth
B1*: U

These are the only two tasks that don't have any takers yet.
I am going to try and get Along Came a Spider to cover #15 (if not, we have Vicki to back up on that), and maybe one of the other books that we all read in the next couple of days can cover #29.

Plus, we have ongoing books for these:

25*: read a book with 201-250 pages - Vanessa
34a*: read a book that is a stand-alone - Vanessa (Apoorv)
36a*: read a book from the Listopia The Movie was Better than the Book (https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...) - Paris
B7*: L - Paris
B14*: read a book with a character who is a werewolf - Laura

I know Vanessa is amidst with the CoViD wave in India, so the book I'm reading right now will cover #34a.

If someone has a book for #25, that they have completed after the 15th and which is not already been used somewhere, let me know, and we can cover that. Else we might need to cover that task too, just to be safe.

EDIT: Using Vicki's The Mane Event for the L. Paris' book will be the backup and we can try and fit it in some other task.

However Apoorv I would check to be sure because the book is 128 pages, but there are some illustrations in it so the word count is only 15000 something.

Elisabeth doesn't City of Bones also have werewolves?

Laura, I have asked the Mods (haven't heard anything yet) for clarification, but I think it should work because as I read the rule, the 25000 word limit is for Children's books, Manga, and Graphic Novels. Adult books should just be above 100 pages.

Let's see what the Mods say!

message 1096: by Laura (last edited Apr 28, 2021 07:30AM) (new)

Laura I've started reading Dark Times, it's also between 200-250 pages long but I'm hoping that there will be a U character somewhere. The other two books were filled with funky names so, fingers crossed!

EDIT: I've just seen that a book my boyfriend surprised me with last week, The Left-Handed Booksellers of London, has characters whose last names start with U. However, I'm not sure whether I'll be able to read the entire book before the challenge ends (what is the EXACT deadline? :D ) because I've got a rather busy week but I'm going to try.
Unless I need to read another werewolf book, then we'll have to figure something out! But let's hope the mods agree with Apoorv on that one :) - since this actually wasn't okay I will definitely not be able to read this book :(

message 1097: by Apoorv (new)

Apoorv Moghe (goodreadscomapoorv) | 839 comments Sadly, the mods did not agree. :-(
Since the MPG said Graphic Novel, it gets categorized there, so unfortunately we can't use it.

So, we still need a werewolf book. :(

message 1098: by Laura (new)

Laura Booo!
It's really not a graphic novel though :( the images are interspersed between pages of text.
I'll see if I can scrounge up something else with werewolves, but most of it is romance and I reeeeally hate the supernatural romance genre.

message 1099: by Laura (last edited Apr 28, 2021 07:30AM) (new)

Laura Alright, one of the teachers in this book is a werewolf although it is never really said as such, I think, but it is strongly implied and also his name is Mr. Leloup. I've read it before and it's really funny so I don't mind a reread.
Groosham Grange
It is a children's book but according to ARbookfind has over 29000 words. What do you think?

If not it will be Sharp Teeth which actually looks pretty good but it will take much longer.
Either way someone else will have to cover the U!
