Morgan | 342 comments Yes, Kendra, get that teleporter up and running. I love in north Georgia. Not too far from Florida. It takes us about 8 hours to get to Disney World. Not as close to Virginia, but closer than to most of you guys. Heat and humidity here really just depends. Sometimes it's a more dry heat, sometimes it's really humid, and sometimes, like now, it was steadily between 80 and 90 something and then we got a bunch of rain that's keeping us more between 70 and 80. I call GA inconsistent. Especially in spring and fall. But 70 is not hot, not for me. I've gotten a fleece blanket when writing on the porch in that temperature. That was only once, but still. I'm chilly if the thermostat is below 76.

Morgan | 342 comments And showing up Hobbit style would be perfection.

message 353: by Katie (new)

Katie Grace (katiegracewrite) | 73 comments I live in Minnesota! Definitely in on this Hobbit thing. ;)

message 354: by Emily (new)

Emily | 5 comments @Hannah I live on the other side of the state in the Tri-state Area close to OH and KY :(

H.M.R. (mybookcaseandi) | 381 comments @Lily Aw man we are so close but yet it seems so far away:(

message 356: by Firefly (new)

Firefly (fireflys12) | 256 comments It'll be a huge, long journey. Y'know, the dwarves probably had to go a long way to get to the Shire. And some of them came in pairs... so all those people down south join up and then the New Englanders will, too. And we'll have a fundraiser or something to raise money for the people in Puerto Rico to come, too.

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 158 comments *kinds of sad-laughs at this whole discussion*

It'll be called... the Epic Ilyon Fangirl Trek, or something like that.

message 358: by Faith (new)

Faith (faithblum) | 55 comments If we decide to do this and go to Kansas, I think the MN and WI people should carpool! :D

message 359: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) Totally, though I agree with Amanda about this discussion, it's sad because it's so fantastical. :(
@Morgan Wow! You get cold under 70 degrees? I don't get cold until it drops below 50. ;)

message 360: by gabi (new)

gabi | 358 comments When living in WI, it got to -60 degrees once.

message 361: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Georges (tamarasinnamon) That's very cold!

message 362: by gabi (new)

gabi | 358 comments I know, right! They had to close school because you would get frostbite if you stayed outside for longer than 5 minutes. Of course, that didn't change my school schedule. ;-)

message 363: by Raechel (new)

Raechel Lenore (vikinglady10) | 22 comments Yes, definitely, @Faith - carpooling would be fun for the MN/WI peoples! And *whispers* we'd then get to spend the whole car trip with Jaye! XD I know you, Faith, have already met her, but it'd be amazing for the rest of us! =D

message 364: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments We should actually do this. For real.

message 365: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments Me, Tamara, Leah, and Firefly - let's all carpool to the middle location. (Which, I think should be the middle of where all of us are, not just the middle of the USA.) Hehehe.

message 366: by Faith (new)

My thoughts exactly. And I wouldn't mind meeting her again, too. :)

message 367: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 342 comments -60??? That's crazy. I've lived in GA my whole life, so yeah, if it's under 70, I usually get a sweatshirt or jacket. Though at the same time, since winters aren't nearly as cold as up north, we rarely put on coats to go into the store. You can stand to shiver a bit on the way. We've been getting colder winters lately, but I remember when I was little putting a Dixie cup of water on the back deck to see it freeze outside and how cool that was. I never want to live up north.

message 368: by Raechel (new)

Raechel Lenore (vikinglady10) | 22 comments Hehe, I don't doubt that, Faith!

And Morgan...wow. I can't imagine NOT having a cold winter! I love them. =) I never want to live down south.... XD

message 369: by Amanda (last edited Jul 06, 2015 05:51PM) (new)

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 158 comments I was born and raised (well, until I was eleven) in mid-North Carolina, where it NORMALLY (I say normally because last winter was insane, apparently) snows about three inches twice a year and rarely gets below the 30s. Since age eleven, I've lived in Florida, where--contrary to popular opinion--it actually does hit the 50s and even 40s in the winter, but anything 65 or under is chilly. BUT. I have a hypothesis as to why this is. One, your body adjusts. It's hot from late March to mid November. When it suddenly ends up as 50 something, it's like a thirty degree change right there, and your body isn't used to it. Two, most of the time, at least where I live on the coast, the 50 degree weather happens about an hour after sunset with biting wind and inevitably my youth pastor makes us play softball outside on the field that night. It always feels way colder in the dark with the wind than it does in the sunshine. And I say this with some authority because my family heads north to Virginia every year in early March and it's always in the 30s and 40s there and it doesn't feel as bad as 50 in the dark does here. Just sayin'. :P (Why yes, I'm rather defensive of my weather-accustomed-ness. But I will admit I have never been in anything colder than 20s and I absolutely cannot FATHOM negative anything. O_O)

message 370: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 342 comments That's all very true, Amanda, a good way of looking at it. :) And it does get down to freezing here, more than it used to, and occasionally down to 0. It was in the 20s a lot last winter. But we've also had short sleeve days right before Christmas.

message 371: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 158 comments Yeah, last winter was apparently crazy everywhere...it seemed like every other week my mom was reading off Facebook that the schools were closed again up where we used to live. *shakes head*

message 372: by Merenwen (new)

Merenwen Inglorion | 106 comments Dang, all of you are out East. Am I the only one on/near the West coast?? :/

Weather...where I live, it is crazy. It can be bright and sunny one day, anywhere from 70-90 (or more) degrees, and the next day it'll be a ten/twenty degree difference from the day before, and cloudy/raining.
Or it can be raining in your backyard, but 80 degrees and sunny in your front yard.
Just today, it was nice, around 70 degrees I think, slightly cloudy. A few drops of rain came down. I went inside. And it started hailing not two minutes later.
Our winter was lame; four snowfalls, and only one counted because it lasted a day instead of an hour. /:

Hey, are we going to have to start a weather thread now? lol ;D

message 373: by Amanda (last edited Jul 07, 2015 06:47AM) (new)

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 158 comments Merenwen, we might have to start one, haha. :P I kind of...turn everything into a weather discussion sooner or later. For some reason everyone's weather interests me.

I've only been in the west once, and that was Denver this year in February. It snowed. I was happy. ;) But yeah, the week before I was there it was like 70s...

message 374: by Firefly (new)

Firefly (fireflys12) | 256 comments Yeah, everything has been crazy weather-wise lately. We had a small tornado up in MA a few weeks ago, which was super weird. (We had to go in our basement, and there are spiders down there)
I'm the weird one among my friends and family because I prefer cold over hot, so a cool summer is amazing for me.

@Firefly: YESSSS I like cold so much better than hot.

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments Today, it's 81 degrees with 71% humidity. It's miserable. It feels like a hot tub that's dry. But snow is miserable too. I like September weather. 70 degrees, dry, and sunny.

message 378: by Stargazer (new)

Stargazer R. L. | 576 comments We're hilarious. XD We should draw a map of where everyone lives, pick the three people with the biggest vans an they can pick everyone else up along the way. ;)

SNOW. Some of y'all get SNOW? Lucky people! I don't get snow very much at all... Last November we went up north to NY (state NOT city) to see family and I got to play in snow and it was awesome! (And we made a 9 foot snowman, because my family's awesome like that. XD)

message 379: by C.B. (new)

C.B. Cook (cbcook) | 293 comments A 9 foot snowman? DID YOU PLAY DAVID AND GOLIATH PLEASE TELL ME YOU DID!!!

message 380: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 158 comments 81 degrees?! Amanda, you ain't seen nothin', haha. ;P

Stargazer, I have a 12-seater airport shuttle bus...! Also, the biggest snowman I've ever made was two feet. TWO. *sigh*

message 381: by Stargazer (new)

Stargazer R. L. | 576 comments C.B. wrote: "A 9 foot snowman? DID YOU PLAY DAVID AND GOLIATH PLEASE TELL ME YOU DID!!!"

HAHA! No, I didn't... Totally should have though. :P It's eyes were made of big apples so you could sort of say they were stones...

@Amanda: The two-foot snowman would have been my story too if I hadn't gone up north last winter. I'm sure you'll get to play in more snow some day. Where do you live?

message 382: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (wordfitlyspoken) | 158 comments Florida, currently. Raleigh, North Carolina, previously. I got to play in snow this past February when I was visiting Colorado for a Bible Quiz tournament, though. It was funny actually because the people who lived there or elsewhere in the north were really hoping for no snow, but we Floridians won out in the end. ;)

message 383: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments GUYS GUYS GUYS. I HAD THIS AWESOME IDEA LAST NIGHT.

We're all going to meet in the forest. Far away. And camp out for an entire week. We will all wear leather sleeveless jerkins and woodsy clothes. And we're going to sit by the fire, with pizza and marshmallows and shortbread and coffee and tea, and have an actual Fireside Chat. And do foresty stuff, completely with hunting and archery, and do exactly what the Resistance would do, for we *are* the Resistance.

(Yes, it was close to midnight when I thought of that. But it sounds exciting nevertheless.)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments Woot woot! Like seriously now. It wouldn't be that hard...or expensive. :D

message 387: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments Honestly, Jaye, you have no idea how starryeyed I get whenever I see forest/go camping. Its...bordering on addiction. XD

message 388: by Firefly (new)

Firefly (fireflys12) | 256 comments Yes! We went camping in the mountains last year(we were in a cabin, though, so does it count?) and it was AMAZING. I love mountains... *happy sigh* And I so love your idea.
I had a dream once that all of us got transported to Ilyon... I got shot in the back with an arrow, and, like, almost died and y'all were freaking out and weren't doing a very good job of trying to find civilization so I could get help and we were being chased by soldiers because one of us (I forget who) insulted the emperor and said he was totally a tyrant for killing innocent people and... yeah. but it all worked out.

message 389: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Beguerie (amandabeguerie) | 467 comments XD oh my goodness Firefly. I'm glad you're alright.

message 398: by H.M.R. (new)

H.M.R. (mybookcaseandi) | 381 comments It's funny to see what different questions were asked (he quizzed me then) I asked who was Trask's love interest and who helped Kyrin escape (he didnt remember Sir Aric:()and he asked how many different weapons were in it, and what is the government like for talcrins.:) it was funny I remeber slight details (like I think it's very important to get the name pronounciation correct he couldn't have cared less if he said it wrong.) but he remebered like everything about the race profiles and weapons and stuff (it annoyed me he knew the talcrins lived in Arda and I didn't even know that) it was funny this was the first book he read that was a female author, did ya'll ever relize guy authors make girls really tuff and girl authors make there guys more emotional?:)

message 399: by Stargazer (new)

Stargazer R. L. | 576 comments Haha! That's funny! Yes, little brothers totally keep more track of weapons then other stuff. How old is he? I wanted to keep up with the government, but I don't think it was very fleshed out... I should have kept up with the name pronunciation better then I did... Oh well. (Maybe I shouldn't ever meet Jaye in person 'cause I'll butcher most of the names. XD) Girl author's DO make the guys more emotional. Huh. That's weird. I'm guilty of that. :P
