Well, I got started on this last night, and I had one of those insomnia kind of nights. So, I ended up reading about 100pgs up to ch6. I know I said I’d be reading slow, but it was just one of those nights, and I found the start to this really drawing me in. It really is interesting and I’m totally curious where this is going.

I got to there last night. To the start of Chapter 6, page 105 in my library copy.
It is a fascinating story so far. I don't believe that (view spoiler)[Mr. Hanley is Jim's Dad. I'm not sure if Jim is the antichrist or if Carol is pregnant and the baby is the antichrist. (hide spoiler)]
There is definitely something "odd" going on especially with Carol's aunt (view spoiler)[losing her mind like that! (hide spoiler)]

I was able to read some yesterday and today, and I’m up to ch12. The turn its taken is not exactly what I expected! (view spoiler)[ Cloning. I have to believe there is something else that is going to turn up here. Somehow, the supernatural aspect has to slip in. I’m wondering if that first night when Jazzy had her nightmare and they found her curled up in bed, was that the beginning? She changed after that they said. I myself was also (view spoiler)[not prepared for cloning!! So Hanley duplicated himself?! They have an inactivated ovum ??? and how did they do this again along with where did it come from. Woah! Science. hahaha!
I don't know much about cloning or this type of fertilization but it can't be good. Yeah, I have so many questions now.

Is Jim good after-all? Or will this revelation put him off the deep end?!
Like you said, did Jazzy have dreams while she was pregnant with him like Carol is having. So when Jim was born, she tried to kill him. Why? Is it she was not expecting this, delivering a normal baby? Or is the baby not really normal?
And I do think you are right. This is what made Jazzy go chasing the dragon (H).

I still feel like Carol might be pregnant even though she didn't get a positive pregnancy test. But what if those tests are only for "normal" pregnancies. Not one normal person and a clone. LMAO! (hide spoiler)]

Completely agree with you! And I think (view spoiler)[Jazzy was also having bad dreams as well while pregnant. That's my guess.

Where did this inactivated ovum come from?! From an ultraviolet lamp to inactivate the original genetic material in the ovum?
So what's in the ovum?! Nothing? No genetic material?

I feel like Brad Pitt in Seven when he's yelling, "What's in the box?!"

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to finish this one in the next 2-3 days. We don't have much to go and it seems like this one was a fast read for us both.

I’ve just read parts 1 and 2 of ch18. I can’t (view spoiler)[ figure out the part that Nicky is going to play in all of this? He is definitely making Bill remember something of his faith, but does he have another role? I wondered if Bill was going to end up adopting the boy himself? No matter what, I had some tears in my eyes after reading part 2. (hide spoiler)]

So I got to the beginning of Ch 23 tonight. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out! I’ll likely finish tomorrow.

How did he come about? Was he in Jim all along but since Jim is a clone (doesn’t have a soul) then he was just in this holding pattern?

Well that ending was nuts! Holy smokes, I didn't see it going down all like that.
(view spoiler)[Was not expecting the amount of brutal deaths, dead bodies coming alive (ha!) or the church going all stigmata on The Chosen. Even when the church attacked Carol, I was all in!

Jesh, this book was really entertaining and fun to read. I had a blast and can't wait to see what happens in the next.
It's the type of reading that is just fun, action packed and the plot is nuts. hahaha!!

I really feel like The Chosen did not help themselves out with Carol. I think Carol might have been open to her baby being "wrong" since she was having dreams and everything was dying that she touched. But The Chosen went about it so fanatically and batshit crazy that she didn't know who to believe at the end. I can't blame her for having doubts and wanting to go into hiding. You know she knows that there is something wrong with this baby though. What a hard place to be in!
Because if she believes that the baby is evil, then she has to wonder about her dead husband being a clone and what was in him that was hibernating, so to speak.

I think Bill and the boy, Nicky that can't get adopted will play roles in the next books. What do you think?

Looks like #5 and #6 might both be this same plot? About good vs evil. Whatever that means to you as a reader, whether it's God vs Satan, or Glaeken vs Molasar.

I thought this was fun also. I really liked the nostalgic feel to it.

I totally agree what you’re saying about the chosen. They messed everything up by being so fanatical about the way they went in. And then, when things got rough, most of them bolted! That’s probably pretty real how something that messed up might go down too. I kept thinking that Carol would see the light, but then again, the evil was already influencing her, so she really didn’t have a chance. The whole part at the church with her and Jonah was sure crazy too! But man, I do not like Jonah!

So I do think the next two carry this story on. We’re supposed to read book#5 next, but then hold off on book#6 until after we read through all of the Repairman Jack books, and then come back to it. I think some stuff goes down in between them in the other series.

Yes!! I agree with all of this spoiler of yours. I didn't even think (view spoiler)[that the evil was already influencing her. It makes sense though when she started having hair grow out of her palms. What a terrible thing to have as a woman! hahaha (hide spoiler)]

I'm so glad you are keeping us on track on the reading order. I am good with however it works. I want to read both series with how Wilson decided it should go! Plus, I really liked Repairman Jack. :D

I love it that their are 16! We sure have picked some long series, that’s for sure. Maybe we start the next one in March some time. Time sure flies, so it will be here before we know it.

I think it will be a tough game as well. KC and TB both have killer offenses. Mahomes is so good as QB and Brady is the GOAT. It will be a good game! I’m kind of glad that I won’t be stressed like you and just enjoy the game. LMAO!
