I am searching for a specific crime book. There was a library in the hotel and i read it there but forgot the name of the book, characters etc. !

The book starts with the story of an immigrant in the usa and he escaping from the police and he has a stilletto and kills one train driver but he suffers and injury and is limping since then. Then the book skips back to "present", the immigrant has built a successful business through extortion. He owns many "supermarket" chains. Key traits: Stiletto and limping.

The book goes on with bombs planted by the servants of the immigrant and killing police (i think). I think his organisation is called black hand.

I also remember that a very rich guy and the immigrant team up. I think they extort a construction company because they want to build it to launder money.

Then i remember that the young "detective" and the immigrant with teh limp and the evil politician / rich Guy fight on a yacht and they are yacht icing.

I think the main protagonist is a college student who was at the time completing his studies in some related field to police work at a reputational university.

The book series is somewhat famous and i dont know how but i found the book title a year ago after searching for it on google but this time i can not find it anymore.

Does anybody know which book this is?

Nepomuk, please add some additional plot details to your topic header, using the little edit link. A header should contain as much plot details as will fit, this can make your query easier to solve.

Nepomuk, around what year did you read these book? A range of years is fine.

I added some details to the header/topic title. You can update it by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, click the "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

Thanks a lot! I read it in December 2019. It is a relatively "new" author I think. After 2005 it was released I think. Have you heard off it?

No - but having lots of plot details in your topic header helps out our members who scan the topic headers very rapidly, without clicking through to read the full comments. If someone spots a plot in a topic header they recognize right away, this could make your query easier to solve.
