Let's Celebrate some of February's holidays by reading!

TASKS
The Shortest Month - Read a book with 100-200 pages (inclusive)

Lunar New Year - We begin the Year of the Ox. Read a book set primarily on a farm/ranch, or with a farm animal on the cover. (Post the cover if using that option / explain setting if not obvious on book's main page.)

President's Day - Read a book by an author who shares a name with George Washington or Abraham Lincoln. (Author name must match exactly, but can appear anywhere ... e.g. Lincoln Child or Elizabeth George would both work)

===========================================

All books used must be a minimum of 100 pages long - Page length determined by HARDCOVER 1st edition. If there is no Hardcover, then the most popular paperback governs page #.

You may read in any format - text, audio or e-book. If using audio or e-book I suggest using Amazon.com's "look inside" feature to get a page number for your quote.

You MUST finish the book before you can claim credit for completing a task.

A book may be used for only one task, even if it would satisfy the challenge for multiple tasks.

EXAMPLE of a successful post:
Title begins with a letter in BLUE: - The Unteachables ✔ - 31May19

If you'd like to be recognized as finishing, the challenge, please post a new comment alerting me to your finish. I do not get notifications when you edit your original post.

Have Fun!

Koren (koren56) | 770 comments Question: I have a book that is only 185 pages with the acknowledgements. The notes, bibliography and index bring it to 210 pages. Goodreads says there are 230 pages but my book doesn't have that many pages. Would this count for the challenge?

Terri - I make up the challenges (sometimes months in advance), so you'd think I have an advantage in terms of planning what to read to fit the tasks. Nope. Seems I never plan ahead of when I post the challenge. Many's the month that I don't finish.

That's funny!! I guess I shouldn't think that I must finish every challenge -- just enjoy the reading and the fun of completing a category. I think your challenges are very thought-provoking and innovative. Thanks for all you do! Your categories always keep me searching for books that will fit :)

Lee ... There are several works with this title in the Goodreads data base, so I don't know which one you are referring to. However ... the Lunar New Year task gives you two options.... a book SET on a farm/ranch (this should be evident on the book's main page -or- a book with a farm animal on the cover. If your book is set PRIMARILY on a farm/ranch it would still fit.

For example: Montana Sky by Nora Roberts ... the description talks about the sisters having to live together on the ranch for a year.

If you can't find your exact book in Goodreads ... well there have been issues lately with the search function. Try putting in the ISBN number or adding the author (e.g. Home by Okorafor) in the search box may help you find the right edition.

Yes, I did! I was just glad that some of the books I read actually fit into a category. I just couldn't get "Ready Player Two" to fit into the "farm/ranch" category!! It was a fun book though, thanks for the recommendation :)
