Karen (karinlib) | 2108 comments Welcome to our 24 hour long read-a-thon. Each reader reads from 12:01am to 11:59pm in their local time zone.

To sign up simply start yourself a post to track what you've read during the read-a-thon. Edit your post throughout the read-a-thon to let everyone know which books you've read and your total number of pages. Feel free to copy our template if you'd like or to invent your own.

Good question Steph. I like chatting about books as well. Personally, anyone that wants to discuss books is free to do so in the read-a-thon threads, or even in the sprints. How would you set it up?

thanks for your response karen! perhaps an ongoing readathon chat thread, separate from the thread where everyone signs up? it seems like the signup threads aren't very chatty because everyone is focused on posting their templates. then again, i'm not sure how much of a demand there is for a more chatty space!

message 12: by Karen (new)

Karen (karinlib) | 2108 comments Yeah, I have to admit that there isn't a lot of chatter going on, and maybe most of the members don't necessarily want to chatter. I've been in groups where read-a-thons are super structured, and I felt like I was in school (they corrected you if your post wasn't structured properly). It may be that most members like that we are relaxed about things, and happy with the way things are. My response is, feel free to talk about your reading, in the read-a-thon threads, and if people seem interested in discussing.
I think we could definitely add a readathon discussion thread in the chat area, if it seems like people really do want more discussion.

message 13: by Leane (new)

Leane I wouldn’t mind discussing. Im used to the structure of reading sprints here on the sprints post but I do a discord chat where sprints are more “talk about the book” than “I read this much”.

message 14: by Steph (new)

Steph (blue01022) | 8 comments that sounds like a fun discord server!! i think it's nice to have a happy medium between listing accomplishments and more casual discussion.

message 15: by Leane (new)

Leane There have been times I’ve posted something asking someone about their TBR for the RAT but they don’t reply. Idk If people look at the other posts or just focus on their own.
