Haha I love this

I watched the BBC Series with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, so if any of you haven't seen the BBC Series yet I'd recommend it, maybe even as with reading the book for this month :)

Why did Lizzy feel she had a choice in not wanting to marry mr Collins?
What was the intention of Jane Austen in choosing to have Lizzy go to Kent?
Was Jane’s introverted personality a risk to her not marring mr bingly or was there another reason they seemed to evade one another?
Why did Wickham choose to marry Lydia?
Was Charlotte being realistic or optimistic in choosing to marry Mr Collins after Lizzy turned him down?
What made Lizzy and Mr Darcy fall in love when they seemed so adamantly against one another?
Was Mr Bennett favoring Lizzy over his other daughters?
If you could be one of the Bennett daughters who would you be and why?

I don't think Elizabeth did feel she had a choice in not marrying Mr. Collins, as she says herself, her feelings forbade it in every respect and wished not to torment respectable men, and so acted as to "rip off the band-aid". In the other view, I don't think Mr. Collins actually meant any harm, and I do think his plan was innocent inasmuch as it was meant to keep the estate and money in family possession (although in the book we read Mr. Collins' boasting about Rosings Park!)
What was the intention of Jane Austen in choosing to have Lizzy go to Kent?
I can't remember when going to Kent took place, is that with her uncle and aunt?
Was Jane’s introverted personality a risk to her not marring mr bingly or was there another reason they seemed to evade one another?
Mr. Darcy would be the other reason, since he saw Jane as indifferent in affection and personality as when he saw Mr. Bingley glow when with Jane. I don't think it was a risk between them.
Why did Wickham choose to marry Lydia?
I don't think it was ever explicitly said, only speculated as to why. I think it was a mix of the potential for the youth (same age as Miss Georgiana), inheritance of estate and money, and connections, the pattern's the same. Only now was he pressured to go through with it.
Was Charlotte being realistic or optimistic in choosing to marry Mr Collins after Lizzy turned him down?
Charlotte was perhaps moreso of a realist and pragmatist with marriage, in a self-protected way, but I doubt that one like theirs would last if it was solely for those reasons on her side - I like to think she does actually like and respect him enough. I liked Charlotte in that she viewed marriage from a different perspective.
What made Lizzy and Mr Darcy fall in love when they seemed so adamantly against one another?
One's pride and one's prejudice over the other both fell!
Was Mr Bennett favoring Lizzy over his other daughters?
I think it was said that Mr. Bennet favoured Elizabeth, whilst Mrs. Bennet favoured Lydia. But I don't think it's the same "favourite" sense that neglects everyone else and gives attention only to them. Mr. Bennet seems not to be around much with his daughters (which may have been the proper situation at their time), but I do think they are a little neglectful of Mary. I like that when Mr. Bennet doesn't automatically consider Mary as a "silly girl" either, only perhaps odd - which Mr. Darcy picks up on. That said, I think Jane and Elizabeth were equally his favourite because they were both sensible and respectable.
If you could be one of the Bennett daughters who would you be and why?
It would be either Elizabeth or Mary, because both are smart and honest, if can be brutal too. But for the male-version (Mr. Darcy, Mr. Bingley, Mr. Bennet, Mr. Collins, Sir William Lucas, et. al) I think I would like being Mr. Bennet, he seems to like winding people up and that's me too!

Well, marriage in that day in age was a security in knowing that you would be taken care of, and not be in poverty. Elizabeth was not apart of a “well off” family but nether was she poor. I think she knew that some of her sisters cared more for a wealthy husband than love per say and might have felt a little easier to know that she would have someone to fall back upon if she never met someone she absolutely loved.
And she is young, meaning she may not have felt an urgency to marry anyone, knowing that she would have other chances of meeting men in her life.
I also believe she said at some point that she learned from the example of her parents why it would be important to love the person you were to marry so she is staking her entire matrimonial happiness on the basis of love/compatibility and she did not love Mr. Collins.
What was the intention of Jane Austen in choosing to have Lizzy go to Kent?
I believe Kent was near Rosing’s where Mr. Collins and Charlotte lived? If that is so, on that trip I believe Elizabeth solidified her disregard for Darcy and maybe even when Darcy decides he is actually kind of into her despite her family’s situation. Jane Austen might have chosen it because her family originally came from Kent? Otherwise, I really don’t know.
Was Jane’s introverted personality a risk to her not marrying mr Bingly or was there another reason they seemed to evade one another?
Hmmm…. I don’t think being introverted was a big problem but maybe being so introverted as not to make him aware of her interest? So at least he isn’t guessing, and she isn’t guessing at their chances with one another.
The other problem would be Darcy’s concern for his friend which was well meant but unnecessary in my opinion.
Why did Wickham choose to marry Lydia?
Haha! I’m sure he is asking that too XD
I think because she was young, naive, and willing he could easily take advantage of her. I would also say her inheritance although when reading, it says that her dowry was not that much anyway. He probably was not aware of how meager it was.
He probably thought since he messed up with Miss Darcy while he still had his charm he could get a young lady even with a small fortune to choose him.
Was Charlotte being realistic or optimistic in choosing to marry Mr Collins after Lizzy turned him down?
Realistic. I imagine she told herself she was being optimistic and that this was a fine opportunity for a woman of her low rank.
Which it was a higher position, but I think she never thought that love in a marriage was associated with happiness and thought that was too much to ask for in a relationship of that kind.
What made Lizzy and Mr. Darcy fall in love when they seemed so adamantly against one another?
I think it was a little different for both. For Mr. Darcy he had been surrounded by women like Miss Bingly who was after him for his money, social status, good looks, etc. Whereas Elizabeth’s disinterest was rather tempting to Darcy. She was only interested in a loving partner and she was his intellectual equal unlike the other ladies he had met who fabricate intelligence.
For Elizabeth, I think when she visited his estate was when she really got interested in him. She had just learned of his predicament with Mr. Wickham and felt a little regret for her behavior. But when she toured Pemberley, she got an inside look at this man’s behaviors and life. She heard from the servants his good reputation and his good humor from those that he was awfully close to. Regarding the servants that makes me think of a quote from J.K. Rowling. Mr. Darcy didn’t have to treat his housekeepers with kindness, but he did.
“If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
After that, she began to see the good in Mr. Darcy’s behavior and acts after her Prejudice had been cleared from her eyes.
Was Mr Bennett favoring Lizzy over his other daughters?
Yea… He liked the company of Elizabeth, Jane and Mary more. They were sensible and not squeamish like Kitty and Lydia. His wife makes up for that my preferencing the younger girls.
If you could be one of the Bennet daughters who would you be and why?
I would want to be either Elizabeth or Jane. Jane is so sweet and demure, but Elizabeth is fiery and intelligent.
(Currently I am a mix of them because I’m so wacky to begin with. Reserved like Jane, but I speak my mind like Elizabeth, and confident in my awkwardness like Mary. I hope and pray I am not Lydia or kitty. Dear me, those girls are just too much to handle. Arrggg, okay... maybe I talk about musicals the way those girls talk about officers.)

She didn't love him and she had a Right to choose not to, as woman in her situation. even against her mother who thought it would make amends for having their estate being entailed to Mr. Collins
Q.2 what was the intention of Jane Austen in choosing to have Lizzy go to Kent?
probably for Elizabeth to get to know Mr. Darcy better and for her to find out Mr. Wickham's real character
Q.3 was Jane's introverted personality a risk to her not marrying Mr. Bingly or was there another reason they seemed to evade one another?
I believe it was somewhat James introverted personality but also her situation and connections in life. Both attributed to Mr. Darcy and Bingly's sisters persuading him she did not care for him as he cared for her.
Q.4 Why did Wickham choose to marry Lydia?
it was a bother not to. He would still have a good position and some money after, since Mr. Darcy bought him a commission and everything.
Q.5 was Charlotte being realistic or optimistic in choosing to marry Mr. Collins after Lizzy turned him down?
More realistic. Charlotte knew she would not have trouble in receiving his intentions and knowing Lizzy did not want him to repeat his offers, she chose to bring them upon herself.
Q.6 What made Lizzy and Mr Darcy in love when they seemed so adamantly against one another?
well Lizzy began to love him after her visit to Kent by receiving the letter that cleared his actions and then more so after Pemberly seeing his manners and character change for the better. Mr. Darcy said at the end of the book to Lizzy about falling in love with her
"I cannot fix on the hour,or the spot,or the look,or the words, which lay the foundation. it was to long ago. I was in the middle before I knew I had begun." that is best I can explain it :)
Q.7 Was Mr. Bennett favoring Lizzy over his other daughters?
Yes,he saw less silliness in Lizzy then in the rest but the silliness in the others could have been averted if he had taken more care of them I think.
Q.8 probably Lizzy, my parents named me after her and she's my fav. out of all them.

Why did Lizzy feel she had a choice in not wanting to marry mr Collins?
Because she didn't love him, and she wanted to get married because of love, not worldly status.
Plus she's a badass, powerful independent women, who has a right to do what she wants
What was the intention of Jane Austen in choosing to have Lizzy go to Kent?
Well it helped the plot progress.
Was Jane’s introverted personality a risk to her not marring mr bingly or was there another reason they seemed to evade one another?
Possibly, one of the reasons Mr Darcy said he broke them up was because he thought Jane had no feelings for Bingly
Why did Wickham choose to marry Lydia?
Probably he just wanted to money
Was Charlotte being realistic or optimistic in choosing to marry Mr Collins after Lizzy turned him down?
I'm not sure, since it was different times. But she probably was
What made Lizzy and Mr Darcy fall in love when they seemed so adamantly against one another?
I suppose for Mr Darcy, he liked her wit and personality. He was probably used to silly and stupid women who just wanted him for his money. And Elizabeth...I suppose she just grew to love him as time went on
Was Mr Bennett favoring Lizzy over his other daughters?
Yes, I think he was.
If you could be one of the Bennett daughters who would you be and why?
Elizabeth of course!!
“I could easily forgive his pride, if he had not mortified mine.”
― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice - Elizabeth Bennet
